I've been having some problems with RTE Alteration with halo 3.

For example, say I'm editing a banshee:
Here are the two problems I'm having
  • I edit the shader(s) of the banshee in the [mode] tag.
  • I poke changes
  • Nothing happens AND/OR the lighting of the map glitches out.
Another scenario is:
  • I edit the shader(s) of the banshee in the [mode] tag.
  • I poke changes
  • I delete all of the banshees from the map thinking it will help.
  • When I spawn in the first banshee, the game crashes.

Usually I have to start a new round in the game for most shaders take effect. Others require you to save the .map itself and then play it. There could be a way around that, but I'm not familiar with it.

Zedd found a way to force the game to re-draw the shaders, but you have to manually poke them with something like Ascensions' advanced poker, or the Peek-Poker application.

You change the value of the byte to '1', for Halo 3 if you are not on a Title Update it is offset 0x828C4712 , or if you are on TU3 it's offset 0x828E676E.

Otherwise it does need a map reload.
