    Win 7 Freezes After Startup

Okay so I when I startup Windows I am able to login but after about 3-10 min it will just lock up and freeze and I am forced to restart by pressing the button. This has just started happening recently about 3 weeks after I put my new RAM in. (Went from 2gb to 4gb) Windows Vista works PERFECTLY fine.

    Specs:
OS: Dual Boot Win Vista Ultimate x64 + Win 7 Ultimate x64 (Both Full Retail)
    Proccesor: 3Ghz Intel Dual Core
    Ram: OCZ Reaper 8500 DDr2 2x2gb sticks.
    Graphics Card: Nvidia 8800 GTS
HDD 1x500 GB 7200 RPM with Win Vista + 1x1TB with Win 7

    Anyhelp would be Greatly Appreciated!!!

Well, it could be one of the following three or all three:

    1. 3rd Party Drivers, something is wrong and it freezes.
    2. Something is wrong with your system files, did you touch them at all?
    3. Your proccesor, motherboard or video card can't handle 4GB RAM, if you're computer was bought from a store, go ask them the maximum amount of RAM your PC can hold and if it was custom built - phone up whoever built if for you.

You have a few options though:

    1. Article on Microsoft about Troubleshooting W7 - [Click here to view the link]

    2. Restore the system to a restore point - [Click here to view the link]

    3. Take away the RAM and see if that changes anything.

    Hope this helped.

K I will phone myself  lol

    1. I don't believe any drivers have recently been installed.
    2. Haven't touched any system files for a while.
    3. My processor, mobo, should work fine with 4gb how do I tell if it will work with the Graphics Card.

As for this I have already played around in Msconfig

    3. Take away the RAM and see if that changes anything.
I've still got my old sticks somewhere I will try to find them and see if it changes anything.

Also one more thing when I try to access my Win 7 Desktop folder from Windows Vista it comes up as Explorer.exe (or w/e it is) is not responding.

Tried booting in to safe mode and doing a system restore or something?

Yeah, check if Safe Mode is working, and if you're getting Windows Vista Explorer then something is wrong with your Dual Boot.

Maybe, just maybe Windows 7 & Windows Vista share some similar files :?

Plus, why would you dual boot W7 & WV?

I got Windows Vista Free  so I put it on.

I don't get Vista Explorer on 7 if thats what you mean. If I am on Windows Vista then go to Local Disk D (Windows 7 Hard Drive) then proceed to my User Accounts Desktop it makes it not respond.

I did find some more stuff I disabled in Msconfig and so far no freezing been running for about 45 min with no problem.

Well, I don't think I can help you in more depth, only thing I suggest is to backup everything and re-install Windows 7.

    Have fun.

You know, JRI96, I don't really agree with you - Windows 7 is extremely optimized and more better than Vista.

Windows Vista was like a Windows 7 Beta and Microsoft gathered all the millions of complaints about Vista and along comes Windows 7. Similar style but extremely awesome.

Vista with new themes? Seriously? Windows 7 has about 10x more features that Vista ever wished it had.

    Windows 7

    Windows Vista
