With these 2 methods, you can save the posse outfits for yourself. Both of these methods require a persistent posse purchased. With the solo method, you need to have the persistent posse purchased for yourself. With the 2 person method your friend needs to have the persistent posse purchased.
Steps after saving an outfit:
- Bison Duster Coat is considered very warm in this game and you can get it from the "rugged" outfits. It alone is enough for the cold weather and you don't need to add any other clothes with it.
- It seems like all the outfits are saveable.
- If there are any unobtainable clothing items in the posse outfits, let us know.
I figured out this neat method to save posse outfits while I wanted to get the coat for cold weather from those. This method requires a friend with a persistent posse purchased and formed.
- The posse outfit you get is random and the posse leader can only choose the outfit style. If you get the wrong outfit, follow these steps:
- Get your friend to form a persistent posse and invite you to it.
- Go to any wardrobe. This can be at your camp or a store that sells clothing items (general store or tailor). Note that all of the general stores don't have wardrobe available.
- Make sure you have a free slot for saved outfits. You get to there by choosing "outfits" and press R1 / RB untill you get to saved outfits. Press R3 to delete outfit if you're full.
- Back out to main menu of wardrobe and edit your current outfit somehow. Remove a hat or shirt for example. Your goal is to make the prompt to save an outfit to appear at the bottom right corner. Do not press it yet.
- Have your friend choose an outfit category for your posse. This is done through the posse settings menu. After the leader has chosen the outfit category, they should back out of the posse settings menu completely to make the outfits change.
- When you see your outfit appear on, save it by pressing R3.
- The posse outfit you get is random and the posse leader can only choose the outfit style. If you get the wrong outfit, follow these steps:
- Tell the leader to switch back to normal outfits.
- Leader changes the outfits and backs out of the posse menu.
- When your outfit changes back to your normal outfit, tell the leader to change the outfits back to the desired outfit category. After which the leader changes the outfits and leaves the posse menu again.
- Wait and see if you got the correct outfit. If not then repeat these steps.
Found this method in YouTube to save the outifts solo.
Pre steps:
Steps:
Pre steps:
- Make sure your own posse is showing up first in your posse list. Leave any other posses that you have showing up before yours. Changing your posse's name might work too.
- Go to a wardrobe. It seems like a general store at Valentine works well. Try there if you are having issues elsewhere.
- Make sure you have a free slot for an outfit available. Also make sure you are able to save an outfit by changing your current outfit somehow.
- Set the desired outfit category for your posse.
- Have your posse active & stand next to a wardrobe.
Steps:
- On the "left d-pad menu" go to your posse and hover over "Stand Down".
- Quickly press X / A 3 times and O / B 2 times and hold Square / X. During these steps you will abandon and reform your posse, back out of the "left d-pad menu" and go into wardrobe. If you didn't get to the wardrobe within time, start again from step 1 and try to be faster.
- Wait for your outfit to appear on. When it does, save it. If you got the wrong outfit, start again from step 1.
Steps after saving an outfit:
- Back out of wardrobe.
- Leave your posse or have posse leader set the posse outfits off.
- Go to wardrobe and get your newly saved outfit from the saved outfits section.
- Edit your outfit by removing, adding, changing or modifying clothes and save it again. Note that you need to own a piece of clothing in the specific clothing category in order to edit that clothing item.
- Remember to press square / X at "saved outfits" to make the outfits you aren't wearing stored to your horse.

Another great find but not currently used in saving the posse outfits:Just as a side note, if the place sells clothing it has a wardrobe somewhere. Some of the doors you can use are in strange places. Like with Strawberry it's outside the shop, in the building behind it. In Saint Denis it's located behind the tailor! Pro tips...
I found out that if you hold X on Xbox or Square on Playstation to open the wardrobe and quickly press left on the d-pad at the right moment you will have your interaction menu open inside the wardrobe. Maybe that can help with doing this glitch solo somehow?
