IPC comparison locked at 3.8GHz and 2666MHz RAM


Looks like about 2-3% IPC gain average with gains to the infinity fabric improving multi-threaded performance greatly.

Most likely these IPC gains are actually because of cache changes as it seems pretty much the same as the Ryzen APU's. The multithreaded performance gains actually seem pretty good.


As I was stated before the biggest gains AMD can make on the second gen are most likely going to come from clock speed increases, not big IPC gains. They fixed the cache issues on the APU's and it was expected to see higher IPC due to this.


There are rumors of a 4.4ghz clocked chip from AMD but no real evidence of the chip so far but based on the node changes its realistic to picture the flagship chips around 4.0 base clocks with boosts ~4.2-4.4 with maybe as high as 4.5 unlikely to see above that.

I'm waiting on the next gen on Ryzen CPU's before I build a new system - can't wait. :biggrin:
