I am basically trying to find out if there is a way to backup a PS3 game to a blu ray disc because I have a blu ray burner and discs which I have heard NO several times ok so is there a way it can be put on a 16gb flash drive and then transferred over to the PS3 and if NO.... Is there a way it can be burnt on dual layers and then brought to the PS3 someone said you could break it down to Dual Layers and that would be fine because it would only take 2 discs so I am trying to find a way to where you don't have to FTP everything

I am not sure however I do have the PSJailbreak and you can backup games if you have the original disc or you downloaded the game from the internet, I have yet to try flash drive because how would you do it, because when you download the games off the internet they come in the 3 folders PS3_GAME, PS3_UPDATE, and PS3_DISC.SFB so what would you do to those files it's not like a JTAG you can't access the whole file structure unless you FTP in using FLASHFXP and BLACKBOX but I am trying to make backups using blu ray, dl, or flash drive

when you download a game I think you put all the files into the PS3_GAME folder
Or are you saying that you want to play a backup? or make one. You can now run off backups, off a DVD-R, not just HDD

Dual Layers wont work. Yes you can make backups off of a blu ray disc or flash drive

No when you download a game I know what to do you take those 3 files and you ftp them over to /dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/
and I have already played a succesful backup, so if you can make backups off of a blu ray disc and flash drive how do you do it then because I have a blu ray burner and blu rays how would I burn it so it works I was told you cannot burn it on a blu ray and play it and if you can put it on a flash drive and do it how would you

from a tut I seen
Step1: Launch Backup Manager and Backup the original disc to the Ext. HDD

Step2: Plug the Usb HDD to the pc and Browse to "X:/GAMEZ/[title_id] Ex. "G:/GAMEZ/BLES00188"

Step3: Copy the contents of the [TITLE_ID] DIRECTORY to New folder on your desktop
* Contents of [title_id] a)PS3_DISC.sfb B ) PS3_UPDATE C)PS3_GAME

Step4: Burn the Contents of the jailbroken game to any type of disc
* Contents of [title_id] a)PS3_DISC.sfb B ) PS3_UPDATE C)PS3_GAME

Step5: Insert the Disc in the Jailbroken PS3

Step6: Launch Backup Manager and load the Disk
* Note: The disc icon will not appear

format your flash drive to fat 32 plug it up to your ps3 then use backup manager to backup your game to it.

ok but you are missing the point both methods would require you to own or have the original game

We are trying to find a method to where once you download the file from the internet you can either burn it or put it on a flash drive or whatever and it will play on your PS3 without owning the original game or needing the original game to make a backup technically let's just say this the backup we get off line is the backup and we want to be able to burn that or put it on a flash drive and play

Ok i understand now. Format the usb in fat32 then copy the file structure as if it was an external HDD then insert the game data. Example( this might be incorrect) it should be like this ps3/gamezfolder--> gameID#---> gamedata.
Best way to get the folder structure correct is to copy a game to the flash drive with backup manager then use that as a template. Oh and FYI the game id is in one of the small text files in the game data or on the bottom of the disc in the middle.
