Unsolved PS2 games freezing and disconnecting controller.

So, I got myself a 60Gb PS3, one of the backward compatible ones with the 4 USB ports on the front.

It was got purely for recording PS2 games with the Hauppage Rocket but every time I try to play a PS2 game, the system freezes and disconnects the controller.

I've been told I need to download the "PS2 System Data App" from the PS Store but I can't find it, even Google links are dead.

Is there anything that can be done?
