Recently downloaded a load of MKV files without subtitle, but these MKV files are very unfriendly and this got annoying me until now. I google it and spent lol time and then finally figured out how to play MKV file on my Xbox add subtitle to it.

1.download the subtitle file for the MKV files in srt format.

2.download a converter, put the srt file and MKV file to the same folder and named the srt as the same as the MKV file.

3.set the output format to avi and set the output destination, then click "start".

    Done.

Note, the converter will detect the subtitle file and add it to the MKV automatically once you load the MKV file to the converter.

keep in mind, that no matter the format the 360 still wont play anything larger than 4GB. all this does is change the container from mkv to avi and probably changing the audio stream as well to something that the 360 understands.

Actually you can play files over 4gb, but you have to ether stream from a pc or format your thumb drive to the apple HFS+. I use it to play 1080p wmv's all the time. Love it.

Your retarded. Instead of waiting over 4 hours for a video to convert, including loss of quality, follow my tutorial.

Umm. OP clearly states in the title how to watch an mkv WITH subtitles.
You then proceed to call him a retard and that we should use your tutorial.
I check your tutorial and what do you know, #9 says if you want subtitles that your out of luck and need to convert it.
Odd, that's exactly what the OP is describing.

On that note, I recommend you buy some ps3 games for your xbox. however if you want to play them, your out of luck and should get a ps3.
