I just took apart my xbox to fix my red rings it will now start up for a few seconds and overheat and turn off is there anything i can do to stop it

Remove the existing thermal paste and add Arctic Silver 5 TP. Keep all of the fan openings in the open (Don't put it on a carpet). Buy an intercooler maybe or 12v Fans or a whisper fan.

make sure the heat-sinks are making good connection. Use arctic silver instead of cheap thermal paste

ok ill try the arctic silver first
MX2 is far superior to Artic Silver, google it for the peformance specifications :wink:

Your washers between your motherboard and heatsinks may be too thick, and causing the heatsink to not sit on the die. Get thinner 1`s.

arctic silver isnt helping any what else can i do

i got it to stop overheating but now its back to red rings any ideas?

There's instructions on how to do it, or you also have the option of getting it professionally done as well. Look around for some local places where it can be done.
