Hi Sorry for posting but i tried searching and i couldnt find anything really good.

Igot my xboxed JTAG and it has XBreboot installed... But whenever i try and play a game for example it asks me to update the firmware.. When i press no, it exits.. If i try running from a external harddrive it gives the same thing but it works when i remove my harddrive but i kinda wanna be able to save games.

The thing is i had this done in a shop so I have no idea how to do anything.. Apart from converting an ISO to a playable version and adding it under the correct directory on my usb disk.. I don't have a transfer cable and don't even know how that works so if its possible to get this done without one that would be epic..

I've tried burning out and running xex loader and viper360... but same thing with both, it asks me to update.. And well.. can only start xex loader if i've removed my harddrive... Viper360 works though.. but asks me to update when trying to play a game.. Sorry if this is a stupid question but well.. Had no where else to turn.

Hoping for a fast response..

its because of your hard drive i think try clearing your cachee folder

go to settings>memory>then hover over your hard drive and press Y to clear cache and this should make it not ask for an update

Oh sorry for not writing that.

I'm not connected to the internet in anyway and it's logged on to a offline profile.

The thing is.. I have 2 xboxes... One original used for online gaming.. and this one... which for the moment... is used to make me crazy... and.. well i lost the other hard drive so i really don't want to mess this one up.. If i delete the cache thing as you said.. Uhm will i lose anything? like save games, profiles and so on?

Ok..

Tried that.

Good news and bad news.

First the good:
Did not ask for update.. Yey.

Bad:
The game could not start. please download the game again :frown:

Worked before the cache removal.

Downloaded Mafia 2 and ran it through wx360 to extract and x360gamehack to make it playable. Then i copied it over to my usb drive..

As i said earlier. It worked before i removed the cache - It just didnt want to start because it asked for update(worked without harddrive)

i think the problem is you don't have a certain mafia 2 file in your cache folder called the title update, i'll try and find it for you, so you can see if that helps

i can't find a title update for the game so my advice would be to just extract the game in wx360 into a folder then don't do anything else and just put that folder on your usb and try to start the game off the default.xex and if that doesn't work while in xex menu go back tothe mafia 2 files and press Y and hit patch xex and then it should work

Tried this now. I just extracted it and sent it directly to my usb drive and tried to run it. Same problem. and i can't see a patch button. when i was in on the folder and pressed Y default.xex, mafia2loaderlix.xex and mafia2_releadedll.xex was available. Tried them all. Same thing on them all.. Hmmm Any more tips?

Btw i've been checking some youtube clips and stuff.. And they start something from either viper360 or something else to get a new dashboard.. Whats that? do i need that to run the games?.. Because now i just get a simple filebrowser thingie

If its a game asking for a update just copy it to your HDD with XexMenu and deleted the Update foler. May I also suggest upgrading you Jtag to freeBoot? It's a lot more stable and your Jtag won't crash as much.

havnt experienced a crash yet. As this was done in a shop i have no idea how to upgrade to freeboot. The problem isnt that its asking for a update anymore.. It's that the game wont start at all now after i removed the cache. Just says that the game could not start. please download the game again..

holy crap.. Deleted the systemupdate folder inside the game and it worked...

Thanks for the help guys.. But back to the other question i popped in there.. Having that second dashboard.. So i don't just have to start things via a ugly filebrowser?... Or do i have to use a simple filebrowser when running games from a external usb harddrive?
