Hi all, I have a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim which I'm contemplating RGH modding. From a bit of brief research, I need to order a custom chip before I can actually take it apart and start soldering anything. So as a newbie, naturally I have a few questions which I would love if you guys could answer:

  1. Is the time/money investment worth it still today?
  2. What is the likelihood of getting banned/rendering my Xbox unusable?
  3. How difficult is the process/how much time does it take?
  4. How easy is it for me to program my own mod menus (or edit existing mod menus) for games like GTA5, CODs, etc.? Are there any links to resources about programming your own mods? (I have plenty of programming experience, I just need to understand how to interact with the games and create custom code for them)

Yes
What is the likelihood of getting banned/rendering my Xbox unusable?
Probably around 40%, also depending on if you use flux

You need to know how to solder, and use a computer and I'd say around 2 hours max to a minimum of under half an hour.

You would need to research into things such as updating offsets from xex files, learning how XRPC,JRPC,JRPC2,RPC,XDRPC and XDevKit work.

Refer to Professional's post above mine. Thought I would post this here for you:
Here's some of the best up-to-date guides which describe all there is to know about JTAG/RGH/R-JTAG consoles. They will answer all of the big and/or small questions you may have (keep in mind, R-JTAG kits and older RGH chips such as the CoolRunner Rev C may be difficult to come across because Team Xecuter stopped producing them. However, now that the new CR4 chip is out, users can now utilize the R-JTAG and RGH 2.0 exploits with ease):

If you do choose to buy or build a JTAG/RGH/R-JTAG, watch all of the videos in this playlist in order once you have the console in your possession with the proper hardware installed. The videos are easy-to-follow tutorials which will teach you how to set up all of the proper software and homebrew that will you ever need:
