Need Help with laptop

Ok I have a hp pavilion dv6000 and my dvd player wont play any dvd's. Pretty gay it sucks lol but it still plays like cd's and stuff and I a have a dvd that plays but its not a actuall movie dvd its just a recording from a ultrasound from a mac computer that was made into a dvd and that plays but other then that.....regular dvd's wont play....they dont even show up in the dvd drive

Thats really strange.
Have you tried reinstalling the drivers?

well im deployed in iraq right now lol so i dont really have all the stuff that came with my laptop....ive had it for about 2 years now, it just started this about 3 months ago just now got to it lol.....but it didnt come with drivers just the os disc all laptops come with...but i uninstalled it and reinstalled it threw the control panel option....i cleaned it to
