Okay so I borrowed a graphics card from my friend (ATI Sapphire Radeon HD4870) and he said it was shorting out. Well it will run good for a little bit, and then my screen will just go all pixelated and freeze up. I felt the card inside my computer and it was really hot. Is it the card, or is it my case that's not keeping it cool?

Sounds like a dying card, and from the age of it not too surprising.

The weird thing is, when I look up "Sapphire Radeon HD4870", an entirely different card comes up. So i'm not sure where to find another haha.

Did you try to raise the fan speeds on the card? Those also may be artifacts. Try upgrading the drivers from the official site and download the overclocking software. (to raise fan speeds)

Lol, a dying card does not usually cause artifacts, artifacts are mainly caused by heat. OP try to open your PC and clean out some dust.

You sure you got a 4870? If you're on Windows 7, right-click on the desktop and go 'Screen Resolution' -> Advanced Settings and what does it show?

I'm not exactly sure what overclocking is. I've heard a lot about it though haha. How could I overclock it?

No, just no. RAIDMAX is worse than **** powering your PC..

I go off of reviews of the product rather than looking at brand names, but I guess brand names earn a reputation for a reason...

I find most of the people that write reviews on newegg are idiots. It''s not worth taking the chance.
