Not sure if this is the right thread for this but a friend of mine who hadn't played GTA5 in ages forgot about the sell limit and he wound up selling like 20 clean dupes in a row. Now his account is completely reset - no money, no rp, no level, etc. Does anyone know conclusively if his account is flagged now and/or would still have a raised vehicle sell exploit level? If so, how would he start over like it's his first time playing? Create a new gamer tag and buy another copy of GTA5 or?

Ok I need more info. Are you saying he sold 20 back to back and then his account was reset? If this is the case, I’ve never heard of that happening before.
If you are saying he hit a daily sell limit, then he needs to stop selling for 2-3 weeks entirely. This will help decrease his exploit level.
To answer your question, your friend DID raise his exploit level because he sold in an unsafe manner. After the waiting period, he should be able to sell again without an exploit level. Make sure that he follows safe selling patterns from now on.

It’s unlikely that selling 20 cars back to back was the cause of the account being reset.
There must be another reason for it being reset.
He must have done the same glitch that got everyone else reset.
He can most definitely start a new account.
You don’t need to purchase a new copy of GTA you can just make a new Xbox account.
I have at least a dozen Xbox accounts and only one copy of GTA per console.
I also have many PS4 accounts.
PC is a different story. If you are reset on PC you will have to purchase a new copy of the game. There was a short time in May when Epic games was giving GTA away for free.

He said he played GTA5 for the first time in a long time so he logged in, had about 5 million cash, bought some vehicles and got low on money so he sold 20 clean dupes (back to back) he had in storage and got about 17 million cash. I guess he played for a little bit after that, then logged out. He wasn't doing any glitches, hacking, or anything like that. He doesn't follow that stuff at all. He barely knows about duping for that matter but I know for sure his dupes were good & clean.

I reminded him about the daily sell limit and told him his account is gonna be screwed now for selling. The next day he logged into his account and it was completely reset. Since everything else in his account is reset, we're not sure if that includes his exploit level. I guess he might as well just create a new one and not chance building his character back up to be able to dupe only to get wanked by an exploit level then or??

This explanation seems extremely unlikely.
Anyways, his exploit level is reset along with the rest of his account. There is no need to create a whole new account unless that’s just what he feels like doing.

I don't know how likely or unlikely it is but that's what happened. I've know him for years and he's never been one to lie. This just happened so maybe R* changed something on their end, which seems most likely. If they did, I couldn't say if it's exclusive to Xbox or affects other platforms too.

I do think his best bet is to create a new account as that one is flagged for cheating for whatever reason.
He has to start fresh anyway so might as well be on a fresh account under the radar.
This only means he will have to start a new e-mail which is fairly easy to do on Google.

That makes a lot of sense. R* could be running special automated checks periodically only to accounts "flagged" for previous cheating (a few thousands), checks they don't run on all accounts at once (many many millions) because that would put way too much load on their database servers.

The only bad thing about starting a new account would be you lose all the real world money you invested in Shark Cards.

Anyway, the real reason why i'm writing this is i have a question: there is a "Earned from selling vehicles" counter in our characters stats as well as the "Overall income", so it would be really trivial for R* to run a query like "if earned by selling vehicles is bigger than the half of the overall income and the player never bought Shark cards then reset his account" on their databases, why don't they do that and allow us cheaters to stay in the game and even sell up to 7 duped cars every 30 hours?

I imagine that you lose the shark card money when reset anyhow.
I was suspended and reset on a PC account recently and any money that was given to me when purchasing the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack. I did get my free stuff from that again when I was able to return to online.
I do feel like shark card purchases are a deterrent from you being reset in certain instances but couldn’t say for sure as I don’t work for Rockstar.

I started playing this game in summer 2018 (PS4), bought Criminal Starter Pack and shark cards worth 7 millions GTA dollars, being my only interest buying hangar and Akula and use this as an heli simulator. By the time the summer update was released i was level 500+ legit and made well above 500 millions overall income. I was bored and milked 500 millions out of the latest appartment glitch just for the risk of being caught and it happened. My account was reset but all the Criminal Starter Pack stuff was still available for free and they left 7 millions GTA dollars in my Maze Bank account, the shark cards money. That very same day i was back in my Akula grinding Special Cargo 1 crate sales. In 1 week i was level 60 and had maxed up all my character stats. I'm level 200 now, have rebought all the important stuff by grinding the Casino Heist, so more or less again in the same situation than when the summer update was released, almost bored of the game, so i decided to cheat again, this time the old casino map + MOC dupe thing. Selling 3 dupes a day, 3 hours between each sale, let's see how it goes, in my opinion we'll see The Great Reset Wave just before the Playstation 5 version of GTA Online is released, because most likely there will be a character migration period PS4 -> PS5 and as sure as we need electricity those shrewd guys at R* will do as much as they can to prevent "car duping billionaires" from jumping into the latest and greatest version of their cash cow. Fingers crossed.

He may have triggered the earnings flag. Just how fast did he sell those cars? Yes there is a 10 million max earnings flag within a period. (Figure out the time yourself) it’s possible but very doubtful. I mean you would have to be damn near next door with your garage and lsc to max out. (There is going to be more to come on this front as well)
I guess if you had supply street garage and someone to run you back to the garage you could possibly hit that 10million max cap. I just really think your friend did the apartment glitch and doesn’t want to say he did.
Times are changing in gta. Stock holders have final say for most things these days. Given free dlc I guess I could see this. Just wait til next gen is out and see just how much more is added to gta online. Other than a max cap on sales I know of no other added feature for duplications. (And max cap on sales has been in place since “dupe detect” came about) I mean if your friend was selling in a public lobby and a ton of people were standing around lsc recording him continuously selling the same car and reported it and sent the video along with the report I could see him being reset as well. If you have a garage full of dupes do not brag about it and sell them in an invite only lobby. It’s just common sense.

I made some tests. Cash earned from selling cars in CEO vehicle cargo missions is not added to the "Earned from selling vehicles" field in the "Cash" section of the player stats in the pause menu. This means if your main source of income is selling duped cars they have an easy way to detect it no matter how slow you sell them.

Cash "earned" by buying shark cards is not added to the "Overall income" field in the "Career" section of the player stats. I do suspect there could be a "this player bought shark cards recently so let him play no matter what" flag. Purchased a 100k shark card (2,5 euros) and will buy another one every month, selling 3 duped cars a day with 3 hours in between sales. I'm not linked to R* in any way, think shark cards are evil business and all but already paying Sony a monthly fee just for playing GTA Online so i think it is fair those greedy smart 4ss3s at R* get some pennies from my videogame addiction too.

I'd be wary of assuming logic like that from a business perspective. Could flip it and say confirmed microtransaction buyers are the softer target because they have already shown the willingness to pay to win... A money wipe to them leaves them with brought cash and may just encourage them to spend even more.

Long term glitchers not only show off and advertise the latest toys but are confirmed never to pay in, even to the extent they would fill up backup accounts and trade accounts with GCTF rather than consider buying a shark. There's little point trying to police people like that especially on console because 1 copy of the game can produce unlimited accounts. PC they ban because you have to rebuy the game.

Hello. With the *maximum respect* for your opinions, i've been exploiting glitches in videogames as a hobby since the ZX Spectrum and i tell you some way or another you always pay. You need to pay the rent, the electricity bill, buy the hardware, buy the blank 90 minutes casette tapes for storing the pirated copy of your favorite games... even if you are lucky enough for your dad to pay the bills and buying the hardware you still have to repay that with submission and obedience. That goes for common videogames, which i do not play no more since 20 years ago, but for this GTA Online criminal world simulator i'd say anyone young enough to have his dad paying for the bills shouldn't be playing the game in the first place and for the rest of the player base it shouldn't be a problem to add the price of a monthly glass of beer on top of their gaming-related expenses. Of course this is only my opinion but what is a proven fact is that there is a "Cash earned from selling vehicles" stat in our characters and it is fairly easy to tell who has built his GTA fortune by selling dupes, so it is still a mistery why serial car dupers (me included now) are not reset periodically by R*

You may be the exception to that rule lol. That stat has been around since, forever. Its quite meaningless because street car sales add to it. If you were inclined to, you may sign on every 48 mins selling a street car until you had 1 mil earnt from selling vehicles, and ZERO from jobs. By your logic that would get someone reset.

They really can't be that bothered they created dupe detect and exploit levels. In the future they may do more. But as it stands they haven't even activated that part of dupe detect which says same car same plate within last 7 sales = detect. I know guys have sold 200 dupes with same custom plate and you know what? Nothing happened.

200? Is that all? I personally have sold over 1000.
Since 2013 and on one account.
Full account resets have happened on multiple occasions. I just do not understand why now it’s a huge issue and people are massively worried about everything. Just as you said before people that glitch and have been reset in the many past times account resets have happened have built multiple accounts all with billions of dollars on hand.
For these people so damn worried about losing their accounts: just create a new one and start building it up legit if you are that worried about it. Then when transfer window is open again transfer all accounts and if one gets reset you will have one that doesn’t get reset. (I mean providing account transfers are even allowed... hehe)
End of the day rockstar only makes examples when people widely abuse glitches. About the only thing I see coming for dupes is the max amount of money per car sales coming down from 10 million to 6 million and the time being lengthened to slow down the profits. This will likely just change the amount you can safely sell within a certain window.
Just chill out and try to actually play the game between duping to build time played and money earned from doing other things that isn’t selling cars. The rule I live by now on selling dupes is to sell one per day and only if I plan on playing that day. I do not log in to sell if I don’t plan on playing.
I also am able to sell without limits but choose to only sell one a day. Do in moderation and always remember to not make duping and selling dupes the only thing you do online.

Na just 200 dupes with the same custom plate after they stopped giving a damn about changing it each sale. In total probably around the same as you.

I agree though once you have billions it's safer to just slow down or even stop. That's for account safety and mental health as well!! It can easily become addicting. First to become a billionaire, then have everything in game and still be a billionaire... Then ensure you have enough for future dlcs and remain a billionaire. Before long you can want 4 5 6 billion and there's just no need for it especially through dupes. Playing the heists and selling the nightclub and all that good stuff in between as well makes sense. Makes no sense having all the toys and experience but never using it to help others.

I can say 100% he didn't do any glitches. He doesn't care about glitches/hacks/etc, doesn't use forums or search any of that stuff. He definitely wouldn't lie about it if he did. The only reason I can vouch for his dupes being clean is because I showed him how and helped. I basically talked him into it at the time so he could buy more items quickly and make it more fun when we play together. I taught him my sell method which worked fine but since he hadn't played in a while, he completely forgot about it. I didn't bother asking what storage he was using and what LSC he was selling at but now I'm wondering if it is that 10 million max within a certain time that you mentioned. He said he sold about 20 cars in a row and made around 17 million from it. I also wonder if there isn't some new dynamic to the daily sell limit, and/or if that 10 million max comes into play as well.

If he has an arena garage he probably sold the cars too fast as previously stated by S schitzotm .
There isn’t a new dynamic to the sales limit.
The information in the OP has been gathered from extensive testing and reading the game code.
Selling 3 cars in a 2 hour period will get you flagged.
Doing that 7-8 times I’ll get you a sales limit.
20 cars in a row is always a risk even if you space them out.
Best case scenario would be a daily sales limit.
Worst case scenario is obviously a reset but not for selling too many cars he was reset for gaining too much income in a set amount of time.
Through all of this that’s what we should be focusing on.
How much time it took to sell the cars that resulted in a wipe.
That is valuable information for us to have.
Once you and your friend figure that out we can then warn others about this newly emerging scenario.
