Ok so i love designing buildings within Maya and then exporting them into Unreal. My problem is whenever i open them on Unreal and try to take my character inside i either walk completely through the building or if i change it to collision im not even able to get in the door. Would someone be able to assist me on how i need to change the physics or something to be able to enter buildings i make and export and walk around in them? (kinda new to Unreal, used more Unity for projects in the past)

The easiest fix, and what is done in game design. Is to build the building without the door and set it as a collision object. Then build the door as a separate asset and position it in place without enabling collision.

Funny thing is, i have not put the door in place.

You have the building without the door and it still will not let you in?

This was a rough building that I had made, pretty much where my character is now there is a invisible wall that I cannot go through. If I change the collision to not detect me then I just walk through the entire building as if it wasn't there. This was one major problem that I have had when importing from Maya, and I have not been able to successfully figure it out.

Sounds like whatever collision option you are choosing is not correct. The type of collision you chose must be encompassing your whole object so that's why you can't walk through the door.

https://docs.unrealengine.com/lates...taticMeshes/HowTo/SettingCollision/index.html

In games, the collision mesh is usually modeled separately from the rendering mesh. If your static object is complex, you might need to make a few separate low poly collision meshes. You want to make the collision mesh as simple as possible, read up on the docs for limitations and guidelines.

Hello, I'll work on a little tutorial for you right now. Give me 20ish minutes.
