Hey I was wondering if any one could tell me about how much my ram my computer could hold. I know that there are sites that tell you but mines custom. Im not on it now Im on my labtop so I will give you the stats later, I know its a vista 32 bit with 4gb now and im just looking to max it all out

a few questions I was having:
Dose your operating system affect the amount of max ram you can have?
It depends on your motherboard right?
If I want to change my possessor from a duo to a quad is that going to be hard? I have heard its a pain so I just wanted to know

EDIT: Sorry guys I posted in the wrong section if a mod could move it that would be greatly appreciated

    1. Yes, 32 bit limits you to 3GB. In order to access more RAM you need 64bit OS
    2. Yes, your mobo also needs to support 64 bit processing
    3. If you've never done it? Probably hard.

well I have put my whole computer together, added hard ware and such and I know about them but its just a basic hardware change right?

but with the ram as of now I have 32 bit and it picks up all 4gb so it doesn't seem to be limiting me

Sorry I was thinking XP. Vista will let you run 4GB but that's it

And yes it's just a hardware change
