map skin is too dark

    for some reason when I try to skin containment it is too dark, what can I do to fix it?

    Make the skins brighter.

    But why would they be black in game and perfect in BSP/Prophet?

    Like full black or just dark? If full black then you may need to internalize the skin or your saving it in the wrong format.

    Really, really dark. Its black if its out of a meter radius or so (sometimes if I zoom I can see it)

    I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended with.dds plugins and DXTBMP for skins

    Don't use DXTBMP just use photoshop and make sure you save in the same format the skin was in (DXT4/5 save as DXT5).

    Open uberlightmaptool and make it brighter

    Photoshop CS3 doesn't save in DDS DXT[#] format, just .dds and it doesn't work so I have to use DXT

    Get a better .dds plugin, its posted some where here but you can easily find it on google.

    Thats the one I have, I never thought to use the drop-down box though. So thanks for the help but I think I may have figured this out myself. :smile:
