    Ok guys, the issue i have, my brother gave me his laptop and i cant use MS Office.....

    When i open it, it lets me do nothing.

    When i try and delete it or try and install the trial of the same version it says "there are files missing" and i should go to setup on the disk or download i used.

    But i dont know what files i need.

    What i want is somebody to do me a little favour......

    I need somebody to do this:

    1. Go to Start Menu
    2. Search "run" and then open "run"
    3. Search "Regedit"
    4. Then go through the drop downs of:
    >HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    >>SOFTWARE
    >>>Microsoft
    >>>>Office
    >>>>>12.0
    >>>>>> And then something like {91120000-0019-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

    Could you take a couple of screen shots so i can compare the files n then once i know the files my brother has ****ed up with, i can try and get them back.

    THANKS SO MUCH!

    You can have someone export the keys, which then you can import...but I'm not really sure that's going to fix your problem

    I would just uninstall/reinstall

    I named it blah but change it to
    {91120000-0019-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

    Try importing that. If it doesn't work try reinstalling it.

    Try booting into safe mode and uninstalling

    Or try this to uninstall Office. This is also worth trying in safe mode, but install while you're logged in normally

    Browse to where you want the file imported to in your registry

    File > Import > Find your .reg

    Is this a pirated version?

    Just run installation and see if there is a repair option.

    Boot into safe mode and delete the whole folder. Then download a new copy, if you can find one.

    Boot into safemode, try to uninstall this way:
    Start, Settings, Control Panel, then Programs, then Uninstall program.

    If that doesnt work, then delete the program file folder. Then you have to find your disk again, and reinstall it.

    If you didn't loose your disk, it wouldn't be that hard to fix.

    Open Office has compatibility with everything Microsoft Office has, and the Open Office Suite offers considerably more functionality for the memory usage (or just in general). And it's free. I would really recommend telling your brother to try it out; it's almost a clone of Microsoft Office (except it has more features and exporting options) so he wouldn't have difficulty in navigating it, most likely.

    Holy crap. I just posted on Se7enSins again. Probably won't happen again until after Friday though. You know, huge English papers worth a large percentage of your grade, and such.
