So I finally got 90% of my Console finished and liking it so far. The Xbone is UGLY! So, since my warranty is up in 2 weeks, I wanted to light it up. Hope you enjoy.

Next , I want to have the fan showing only and not the ring around the fan. I am going to do one of my controllers next also.

My Xbone torn down and ready to start....

Drilled my fan shroud to accept LED's and painted my fan chrome to bounce the lights around.....

Drilled holes for my bottom LED's, sides also.....
20150917_232039.jpg

Drilled out like 32 holes to release fan grill so I could reverse the grill to show fan and cut out my window with a Dremel.....

Started to route my wiring and LED's out......

OK, for the power source. I originally hooked it up to the Optical Drive, which, I didn't want to because if you don't have a CD spinning at all times, you lose power to your lights. I cleaned it all up. If you are facing the rear of the Xbox from the front, meaning the front of the console is touching my chest, it is the top furthest left wire.
(-DISCLAIMER- Your light kit will come with an adapter to plug into the wall and works right out of the package. I did all my light testing with the adapter plugged into the wall so if I had a short in my soldering, it wouldn't harm my Xbox. The last step I did before final assembly of the case was to then solder the power adapter to the Xbox One power source when I knew my connections were safe)

Negative was soldered to any metal point in the rear then I hot glued it for safety....

But thanks to a fellow Se7ensins member, I re-soldered it to a constant power source but left my negative where it was since it was safe.....

Photo above and help was from, Yelawolf and the link to his Modded console and original photo is http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/xbox-one-leds-and-fan-tips.1293233/#post-10235509
THANK YOU YELAWOLF!
Testing the lights to test my soldering skills.....

I hid the white control box here and the speaker is moved to the right of it. This is behind the power button of the Xbox....

Put my Pexi-glass in and then decided to paint my Xbox so, I had to remove it and reinstall later...

I decided to paint my Xbox with Valspar Grey Stone Spray Paint and it looks awesome!

Below are nearly finished pictures and I'll upload a Video later of all the effects of the lights.

LOL, proof ready and checking my photos, I just realized I forgot to peel the sticker off covering the little Xbox log above the CD slot.

Also, You can take the top cover off of the CD Drive to expose the mechanics, which I think looks awesome. But, after having a few open Xbox 360's to hotswap modded disks back in the days, my lens kept getting dusty/dirty and wouldn't read disc's until I cleaned it. So, I decided to keep the cover on (very easy to take off)

Hope you like it. Video will be up later! Thanks for looking :wink::smile:
Videos are up, sorry for the dirty room/workshop.

where did you get your led's from?
Ebay. They have them on Amazon too. If you have a custom computer shop around, they sell these kits for CPU towers that are already wired for your solder points.

Hey man, the leds I ordered are in one strip. Did you have to route the leds to underneath the metal casing so they showed up on the sides and underneath? Also after removing the heatsink, does everything just bolt back up without any thermal bonding paste? I want to make sure I get 12v constant. But the solder point seems to be on the bottom of the board. After multiple 360 failures after messing with the X clamps I'm kind of intimidated.

Your modding has inspired me to go a little crazy and ambitious with my mod btw. It should be done by next week

Do not remove the heatsink, no need to. Watch a few YouTube videos on how to dismantle the Xbox one and you will see that you can pull the motherboard out with the fan and heatsink still attached and you don't have to mess with the X bar.

As far as the LEDs, your strip has a point every three to six lights where you see where you can cut the strips and then you will need to solder 4 wires to bridge them. If you look at my pictures close you will see where I was soldering all my Bridge connections for underneath and the fan. Don't worry about messing up a strip because you will have plenty of light strip left over if you have to redo a section.

Please post pictures of your finished project and good luck.

I also added a small light strip in the middle top because it was dark when the lid was on. I used wire connectors in between incase the lid has to come back off.

This is the wholes I drilled out for the LED'S I routed to the bottom, the sides had to be stuck to the underneath of the console because there wasn't room on top.

This is the LED strip hot glued on top of the holes from above pic with the soldered jumper wires, red, blue, green and black.

Dude you are such a badass!!! Thank you for all the info. I assumed everything besides the side placement. But I'm quite intimidated by all of this. Since literally this box is all my entertainment for my family pretty much. Haha, I'm going to hit it hard today! Can you tag on this forum so I don't hijack your thread?

So I found a more in depth tear down video. It seems that you still have to remove these four screws, which in the Xbox 360 if you touched them at all. You had to clean and reapply the thermal bonding paste. If you messed it up or in any way or were not close factory you had melted chips.

It is this not the case with the Xbox ones?

You do have to remove all the screws at the bottom of the metal case including the four above but, the X clamp is still holding the heatsink on and you don't have to mess with it any futher after this. You will need to take off the 3-4 plastic side posts that guide long screws and the motherboard will slide right out accessing the positive/negative solder points you're looking for. I never ever had to remove the heatsink during my project. I did remove the black fan shroud to drill it and paint it which detaches from the heat sink without removing the heatsink.
You will notice that your light kit comes with a control box and the power adapter which plugs into the wall. The only thing that can go wrong is that your solder points are touching each other so I inspected all of mine under a microscope and I kept testing it all the time by plugging it into the wall and making sure nothing shorted out. When I was finally done hooking up all my connections and strips of LEDs and I knew I had no problems my final step was to cut the adapter and then solder it to the motherboard knowing I had no issues with my soldering connections.

Watch this video at around that 18 minute mark and you will see him slide that motherboard out with the heatsink and fan still attached which is what you will be doing also.

Actually, it is not all that hard it is just very long and tedious work. The soldering of all the connections is the worst of it all. The cutting of the window has to be perfect but it's not really hard. I'm sure if you watch enough videos you would be able to do it yourself. i'll help anyway i can.

Hell yeah dude! Cut out looks nice. You going to reverse the grill? If so, have fun drilling or melting those 30 spots lol. Yes, those little connections are great lol.

Thanks man! I'm actually going to do expanded metal, So you can really see everything inside. Not sure if I want to put something on the corners or not...like little decals maybe. Tomorrow I'll be headed to the vinyl shop to get my custom graphics printed off

Hopefully final question which lead is positive and which is negative in this picture?

I'm hoping the red one but I want to be sure.
