So i was sleeping and my laptop had fallen off my counter its fine thats wht i am currently using but it fell on its side where the power cord plugs in, now it broke the power cord so my laptop will now just die.

The part that broke off was the silver part the fits into the hole of this laptop but it broke off from the rest of the cord.

so if u just take the silver piece out your laptop is fine, no? call your manufacturer and ask for a new one.

If it's just the cord get one off ebay or something.

A power jack isn't the hardest thing to replace if need be.

but a cord? come on, google your laptop and get a new one.

What? LCD screens don't get affected by magnets... at least not the one in my macbook anyways.

Also, you need to have a magnet with a very high rating of Gauss to erase a hard drive. I've tried. Literally a supermagnet. The HD itself has a magnetic field that's quite strong so you would need a very beastly magnet to wreck one. Also, this is why MagSafe power connectors are awesome.

Your sentence makes no sense but ok. It is a good idea, because in this scenario it wouldn't have shattered and failed this guy the way his power cord did.

lol, I added that bit of information after I got some steel wool stuck in my kinda plug thing. Tweezers removed it fairly easily though. Just had a WTF moment when I plugged my PSU into the laptop and it turned off .
