It seems like I could get almost double the amount of DVD's of some other type that are DVD+R DL 8x discs. And Verbatim discs are not sold at my local Staples or Radio Shack.

Is there that much of a difference that I should pay twice as much for them? :o

    well yes
verbatims are the best there is
you shouldnt have any problems with them like freezing and open tray errors
and hitachi disc drives usually dont reconize anything but verbatim

    *source* ME
ive burned over 50 games and used verbatim evertime and no problems at all
tried other brands and ran into coasters

I used to buy memorex because they were cheaper but as my xbox got older i got more and more disk read errors and the longer i played it in one session the less likely it was to boot a game when i changed. Since ive used verbatim i haven't gotten disk read error or failed to boot a game.:w00t:

If you don't use Verbatims, and you get an error, you can be pretty certain that had you used Verbatims, you would not have gotten that error.
People say they're that much better for a reason.

the slower you burn the game the less likely you will be to have errors while burning. I buy mine at sams club about $60 for 50 disks

2.4x are cheaper to buy, but same quality, and you should be burning at 2.4x anyways, so if you have the choice, I would go for the 2.4

I used to use Memorex DVD-R's for regular dvd movies, they SUCKED, I use verbatim now, they have NEVER caused a problem for me so far, and I've use about 40-50 discs now.

I have also modded someone's xbox, and Sony's (which are a good brand) didn't even work, and he had to use verbatims. I have some games burnt on Sonys, but I would recommend verb.

They shouldn't be to much at all..and if they are double (which I doubt) then whats the problem, pay 2 bucks for a high quality disc that will for sure work and be stable, or possibly pay 5 bucks going through 5 memorex discs. And plus 2 bucks for a game vs 60, whats there to complain about .

you should go for the best quality you can find really. you can't complain since your paying enough for 1 game and getting 25/50.

Just make sure that you pay attention to the disc. You want MIS(Made In Singapore) not MII(Made In India). But the general rule of thumb is that MIS is 8x and MII is 6x so just don't ever get any 6x Verbs. I just bough 145 8x DVD+R MIS and they are absolutely perfect
