I was thinking about buying a 99% capable compatible laptop for a hackintosh build. My predicament is that I have a fully functional laptop with windows on it. I guess I don’t have the need to buy the new laptop but I have the want. I just don’t know if the want out ways the need enough to make the purchase. All in all it would run me around $1k including the i7 laptop, WiFi card, and upgraded ram.

Can’t you buy a MacBook that also has windows installed?
When I was buying my iMac I had the option to pre install Windows.
That being said...
I also have a Samsung Slate laptop
That is a hackintosh...
It also runs windows.
I bought it for the purpose to make it into a hackintosh.
I didn’t purchase the PC new.
I got a great deal on Amazon warehouse deals.
I have had it since 2014 and it’s runs great(Windows 7/OSX Mavericks)

I think you have a lot of options...
You could easily install OSX on your current laptop.

If I were you I would just go for a MacBook with a dual installation of windows and Mac OS:smile:

I like my Hackintosh but I also like being able to get updates from apple.
That’s off the table with a Hackintosh:frown:

Anyhow I hope my babbling has helped:wink:

Good luck with your decision:smile:

boot camp is super easy and performance booster, i have macbook air with windows 7 installed, because macOS is total pain to use. Problem with mac, is that they don't have standard windows keyboard commands, like delete, print screen, etc. And dualbooting is easy.

Another problem, macbook will overheat with widnows, because it will use full cpu perfomance, to fix it you need to use 99% cpu so it will not turbo boost.

for 1k you can find pretty capable secondhand macbook.

Sure, why not?
If you have the spare cash and know it's going to defiantly work, do it.

You'd be better just picking up a secondhand Macbook Pro/Air or even a refurbished one.
