Discussion Is it true Black Ops 2 is using Unreal Engine 3?

My friend said that it is using Unreal Engine 3 and i saw a comment on a youtube video saying that it also is, but when I search what engine Black Ops 2 is using, I find nothing about Unreal Engine 3 and it says its using the same engine as MW3 which I doubt because thats made by Infinity Ward.

No. All call of dutys since mw have been based off the same game enigne, they have just been change slightly to work with the new game.

MW2 used a new game engine IW4. Treyarch still uses a engine based off of COD4

Slightly wrong... they wasn't all directly based off CoD4. MW2 had IW 4.0, and MW3 had an "improved" (cough, cough) version of IW4.0. Black Ops had a modified version of IW 3.0. It's funny how the 3.0 version could render 3D while 4.0 had nothing. The reason they didn't go big on Black Ops because they wanted to keep a minimum of 60fps. Well they manage to completely restore the engine and keep the minimum 60fos. It is no IW Engine. It is now the...

Black Ops II Engine, here are the improvements:

• Reveal mapping (improved texture blending)
• Improved lighting effects
• HDR lighting
• Bounce lighting
• Self-shadowing
• Intersecting shadows
• DirectX 11 for PC version
• "Zombies" moved to the multiplayer portion of the engine.

From what I could tell, the game looked pretty damn good. And that was a livestream over 5,000 miles away. I can't wait to see what it looks like straight on my 65in Plasma!
