is it possible there a way to install halo 2 to my hdd so i can mod old maps?

You wouldn't be able to mod old maps even if you could install it to the drive. It would be encrypted just like 360 games are when they are installed.

flash your drive
burn a disc
mod old maps.

or hotswap.

Yeah. But instead you have to keep your dvd drive open.
