    2) On the left hand side towards the bottom of the site you will see a box that says "Search Model" we are going to use this to save time.

    3) Look on the bottom of your WIRED linksys router for the "Model Number" and type it in the box of the "Search Model" (see picture above)

    4) Ill be using my router as a example for this. ok once you search your routers model number you will be on a page with a picture of your router and a drop down box asking for the version (the version can also be found on the bottom of your router close to the model number)

    5) Select your version and scroll down just abit and you should now see a box that says Downloads For The (model number here)

    6) Click the floppy disk for the one that says "Firmware" and you will get a download box (make sure if your pop up blocker blocks it to allow it)

    7) Ok now that you have downloaded the new fireware you will need to go to your routers control panel, open your internet browser and type in 192.168.1.1 (Default IP) then you will get this (if you havent changed your routers login settings then follow the picture, if you have then enter your information)

    8) Ok almost there! click on "Administration" then you will get a list below and click on "Firmware upgrade"

    9) Now FINAL STEP! click on browse, select the file you downloaded in step 5 & 6 then click upgrade! and it will say do not interupt update and you will see a status bar when its done there you go your router is updated with the newest firmware!

What do you get from upgrading?
And shouldn't you already know how to do something as simple as installing new firmware if your going to even bother?

Its like telling somebody how to sit in a car, wether they can drive it or not.
    Nearly pointless.

It is well layed out though, I'll give you that.

Tutorials are useful for everyone. There are many computer illiterate people who need help doing things you might find simple. Some people need to follow step by step instructions. For example, some people don't need many directions to drive a car to a certain place, but others need the details of mapquest that tell you exactly where to turn and how many miles until you get there. Criticizing the value of a tutorial is not necessary.

    Great tutorial Instinct.
