What default.xex is crashing, simple flash 360? I'm sure someone or myself can help you out if you give some more detail on what issues you're having. Can someone help, when I click on the default xex I get error cannot be played and crashes
How would one figure this out? Any way other than opening up the Xbox? Brother Jordan had visited and hooked me up...I was uninterested at the time but there are a few things I want to run on the 360 now (Halo 2 modding) and I wanted to boot this baby up. The hdd I had used was an old hdd that I had to use and IDE to USB adapter for and I lost the power cable to it so I'm now working with a different hdd. If I need to, I can pull the info from the old hdd, it's just a pain since I have to open my case up to give the drive power and then hook it to USB.If you have a Phat, you need to know whether it's RGH 1 or 2.

But the quoted part is where I'm stuck currently.
Also, I saw the options in the program for motherboard...I also don't know which version that is. Does the program read the nand to figure that out? Or do I just need to stop being lame and take the time to open the xbox up. I'm afraid I won't be able to...the number of times this one has been open with a knife is 1 too many lol But I'll see if my x360 tool will open it tomorrow if need be.
If it helps, I think it was one of the first Xbox 360 Elites with the 120gb hdd.
Thanks for the help. Since I hate leaving things in private chats/discord, I want to write what I did.Check discord i'll help out
When it comes to 2.5" drives you can use almost any on the console. There are however a few things you should do first to make things a little easier. My situation is likely unique. This old Xbox was banned from xbl so I removed the hdd and put it in another Xbox. So all that's connected to this is an external right now. Debating on whether moving this 2.5" to the encloser since it's about 2x bigger than the original but thinking that may pose an issue with what I had done above so for now, just leaving it.
It should just be the avatar update. Confirm you are on dash 17544. If so, and your avatars are gray, then it's fine.Hello! Is this safe for Avatar update? Please find the attached screenshot.
Thanks!
I'm making this so people can stop bricking their consoles...
Things to Download
XeBuild 17559
Simple 360 Nand Flasher
****************
Before Starting, Remove your Current Launch.ini.
If you don't you may be stuck on the Xbox Logo after Boot.
****************Congratulations on Successfully updating your console.
- Extract the .RAR for Nand Flasher.
Make sure your USB Drive is FAT32.
Place the Simple 360 Nand Flasher, on the root of the USB.
- Go to XeX Menu, and load the Default.xex for Nand Flasher.
You'll be presented with this screen:
Hit X to Dump the Entire Nand.
When it finishes, you'll be presented with this:
- Hit any button on your controller, and when you're back at the Dash, take out the USB Drive.
- You'll see 4 Files now in the Nand Flasher Folder:
Backup the flashdmp.bin in case you need to flash back!
- Download and Extract XeBuild 17544.
Open the file named XeBuild GUI 2.0.
- On the top of XeBuild, to the right of Source File - Hit Open and select the file "flashdmp.bin".
____________________________
If you have a 4GB Corona (48mb Nand) it'll give you this error:
Hit Yes.
____________________________
- A little bit under that same spot, you'll see Keys.
Next to the text box of CPUKey, hit the button "Get CPUKey from Keys.txt".
Select the file "cpukey.txt" that Simple 360 Nand Flasher made:
- Double Check the Build Type!!
If you have a Slim Trinity or Corona, it'll be Freeboot (RGH 2.0).
If you have a Phat, you need to know whether it's RGH 1 or 2.
If you're unsure, Dashlaunch will tell you in the bottom right.
Always select Freeboot, not ECC.
- The last thing needed to do, is to select the 17559 Kernel.
It should be auto selected, but if it's not:
Please make sure all boxes on the bottom are Checked:
**********************************
If you're on a 4GB Corona, this step is very important.
You NEED to enable 'Open Parameter/Argument Editor':
**********************************- Once you have completed those things, on the bottom of XeBuild hit the button Labeled:
"Generate hacked image".
If you get an error saying it cannot find files, hit Yes.
After it 100% Downloads, hit Generate Hacked image again.
____________________________
If you get an error message that says this:
Then double check your build type again.
If you are 100% positive that you selected the correct one, then hit No.
Then it'll bring up another Popup asking if you're sure you wanna use it, hit Yes.
____________________________
If you have a 4GB Corona, you'll be presented with the same error you had earlier.
The only difference is, you'll get a Popup that looks like this:
All you're going to do, is add 4g to the end of Corona like this:
Then, just hit Save the New Parameter.
____________________________
- In the Right window of XeBuild, if all is successful you'll see a Log that looks like this:
- Go to the Output path, where XeBuild saved the file, and you'll see the file "updflash.bin".
- Drag that updflash.bin into the Simple 360 NAND Flasher folder on your USB.
Once moved, take the USB, and put it into the Console.
- Go to Xex Menu and start the Default.xex for Simple 360 NAND Flasher.
- Once it is loaded, hit A to Write Your Nand.
Then hit Start to confirm the Write to your Nand.
When it's completed, you'll see:
Rebooting in 5....4....3....2....1.... and then the console will automatically reboot.
- When the console reboots, if you go to Settings and Console Info, you'll see you're officially updated, and on 17559.
You'll more than likely need to do an Avatar Update.
To do the Avatar Update, please follow the guide that Sombra made by
If you'd rather do the Manual Version, then please follow this guide:
- Grab a USB Flash Drive 8-32GB.
- Download the USB System Update.
- After it's Downloaded, extract the file, and you'll get a $SystemUpdate folder.
- Rename the Folder to $$ystemUpdate.
If you don't have the two $$ then this will not work.
- Plug your Flash Drive into the Computer, and Format it to FAT32.
- Drag the $$ystemUpdate folder to the Root of your Flash Drive.
- Turn on your RGH and wait until the Dashboard loads fully.
- Once the Dashboard is loaded, plug in the Flash Drive, and you should see this picture:
- Once you're presented with that, hit Yes. When it is done, you have officially installed the avatar update, and can proceed to go online with your RGH.
Thank you to jester and NiNJA for keeping XeBuild up to date!
Hi,
I basically dunno anything about modding this. However when I saw the article that MS giving updates to the 14-year old box, I would like to try updating myself (I sent to a shop to do the mod).
1. How to remove the current launch.ini?
2. Also all the images in the guides are broken. afraid to do the updating without seeing the screen guides
Thanks in advance!
Try refreshing the page. Might want to check your security settings. It might be something with the newer browsers where if there is "mixed content" (meaning, he's linking to another site/image on the page that isn't hosted by us), the browser thinks it's a security risk. Let me know if you figure it out so we can see if we can fix it on our end. Also all the images in the guides are broken. afraid to do the updating without seeing the screen guides
