So I fired up my RGH for the first time today got into a GTA 5 lobby then my internet went down lol but I'm wondering since just connected it straight to my router (could not get the VPN working) will my retail get ban when I connect it

there is always a possibility, of getting a retail console banned, when having a RGH on the same ip address. I went threw two retails before then i got a VPN for my RGH. There are steps you can take, to make it harder for them to ban it if you do not have a VPN to use.

I normally would never recommend running both an RGH and a retail at the same time in the same IP addressing Xbox live.

Chances are you'll be fine, but I would suggest not connecting your retail back on the same IP for awhile. My retail was banned after 3 months of modding on the same IP address with my RGH. I will note though that I never ran both consoles at the same time over Xbox live.
