Discussion How To mod your Mass Effect 2 Save

this Tool basically gives you every you will ever need in Mass effect 2. its easy to use and does the checksum to you when before you would have to use a "checksum" tool which took time and was alot harder.

Before you start this you need the following:

-transfer cable or a way to connect your HDD to your computer
-a way to get your save on your desktop from your Harddrive (modio device explorer works for me) - See Below
-modio - http://www.game-tuts.com/community/modio.php
- Mass Effect 2 save editor - http://www.multiupload.com/4A6S8Y1DJE

1: connect your HDD to your computer.

2: open modio and go to device explorer

3: click on your profile ( i like modio because it tells you the gamertag name)

4: right-click-> extract-> Desktop

5: now in modio click the folder at the top left and open your save you just put on your desktop, and click contents and extract the save_xxxx.xbsave yours will have numbers after that simply load gibbeds save editor and load the save_oooo.xbsav.

6: edit what you like its pretty self explanatory

7 once your done editing save it and go to modio open your Main! profile the one that says your guys name and what he is (infiltrator,etc) and then contents and right click the save_xxxx.xbsave and click inject and load the one you edited.

8 rehash/resign

9. inject the save back into your HDD overwriting the old one

10 your done!

Update: you can not just load the profile you get out of your HDD you have to extract the save_xxxx.xbsav within your main profile. it will not work otherwise.

2. It's in the ME2 saved game content package in the ME2 folder.

Nice work. That gibbed tool is great, but careful trying to edit ME1 stats on it, I never could get that part to work. The character editor (big head, etc) is awesome to just blow some time on :thumbup1:

Everytime I try to enter mass effect 2 after modding the save, my xbox says "fatal crash intercepted".
Ive done the whole process like 20 times, step by step, so I dont know what Im doing wrong.

Can someone plz mod my save for me?

Are you trying to mod your ME1 progress? Send the save to me and I can try. This tool can be glitchy, and is limited as to what you can use. What exact parameters are you trying to mod? Might be able to tell from that.

i do this whole process but after i turn my xbox on and start the game when i press start game on the first screen it starts loading then the screen goes black and freezes it wont let me press the center button to go back to dashboard it just freezes i retried a billion times and the same result happens each time. im only modding credits and tech points =(

I'm having some trouble and I hope someone is still checking up on this!!

I don't have my old xbox HD with me, so, in order to have a save to import it into Mass Effect 3, I downloaded a save from masseffectsaves.com and then went into gibbed in order to mod it. Then, I converted the .pcsav into .xbsav, and now I'm trying to open it in Modio but it says it couldn't open it 'Invalid Package'. Anyone have any ideas?? Thank you!!

Was there anything special about the save, or was it just a basic save? I can upload one of my personal ones if you didn't care about modded stats (or was going to do it yourself). I could also team view if you're still having trouble.

I edited a ME2 save, including the plot from ME1, marked it as ended and then started a a new game by importing that save. Now, when I start a mission on disk 2 ( recruiting Thane) i get a fatal crash on my JTAG. But all the missions and DLC played during DISK1 (about 15h so far) worked ok.

Is it a gamesave problem or maybe a disk 2 GOD format problem?

Do you have an unmodded disc 2 save that you could try? I might have an old save somewhere just before getting Thane if not.
