Have you ever needed to know what type of console you have and which power supply you need to use so you don't blow it up?? This tutorial will show you in detail how to determine the difference between the most common models of Xbox 360.

Check out the picture below.

All Xbox 360 Console Versions

1. Xenon(2005-Fall 06) - Launch motherboard 203W Power Supply, 16.5A

2. Zephyr(Fall 06 - Late 07) - Same as the Xenon just with the HDMI port added. 203W Power Supply, 16.5A

3. Falcon(Late 07 - Aug 08) - New CPU but same GPU as previous models. 175W Power Supply, 14.2A

4. Opus( Around June-July 08) - Replacement motherboard for Xenon models. Basically Falcon without HDMI. 175W Power Supply, 14.2A

5. Jasper(Aug 08 - ?) - Same CPU but new GPU. 512mb Flashed based memory. 150W Power Supply, 12.1A (Some come with a 175 Watt power supply too)

I have the power connector on the left and a 203 watt power supply works with my Xbox 360. But why would I have a Xenon/Zypher in a 2008 January Xbox?

Because the details don't match the picture. If it's a repaired console that's why.

can someone help me out here -

i have just received an xbox for repair (my 3rd )
and its weird :S
i dont have the right cable so i cant test it but thats not the problem
it was sold as an elite
arrived in a black case (like an elite lol)
BUT - it appears to be a zephyr?
its got the first generation power cable BUT the case says a manufacture date of late 2007?
and ive never heard of a zephyr elite?

so i have to assume that they've taken it out of its original case and put it in an elite case?
its a benq drive, and has the 2nd generation heat sync, but still has x-clamps.
really confused haha..
also the drive has a manufacture date of 2007 :S

so if it is a zephyr it means its had its drive & case replaced?

pm me if you can help me out :S
