How to flash your Xbox 360 Lite-on DVD Drive.
    By EclipseModz

This guide works along side of AzzidReign's tutorial. This will work for 32-bit and 64-bit OS's. For 64-bit Windows (Vista through 10 at the time of this edit) users refer to Azzid's tutorial before you start here.
How to Firmware Mod your Xbox 360 with a 64-bit Windows OS

    Requirements
    • Maximus Xtractor360 with spear or Xecuter CK3 Probe v2 or 3 (You will have to Google for it, might find one on eBay)
    • VIA Sata Card with Chipset 6421 [eBay | Amazon]
    • SATA cable - to connect your 360 drive to your VIA chip
    • x360 Opening Tool - [ifixit | Amazon] Not needed but makes life much easier
    • [Click here to view the link]
    • [Click here to view the link]
    • [Click here to view the link]
    • iXtreme LT+ Firmware (get from [Click here to view the link]):
      • Please give autoxbins a few minutes to connect to the server. Once it's connect, you want to follow this directory:
        /XBOX 360/firmware/hacked firmware/
      • Once there, search for your drive, download the LT+ firmware (whichever is the newest version is, I think 3.0, my guide is showing 1.1 but it shouldn't matter)

This is a Continuation of Azzid's tutorial showing how to flash your Lite-on and starts from "Reading your Xbox 360 Drive" in Azzid's tutorial. It will begin from Step 2.

Before we start make a folder on your desktop named "LiteOn Backup". This is where you will save your dump.

If you are running Windows Vista or above right click Dosflash and select "Run as Administrator".
    1. It will open and you will be shown this screen.
It is asking to resend the command until the drive responds. Click No because the lite-on is locked and will not respond to the MTK Vendor Intro.

    2. Now it may switch ports on you. Don't panic just in the drop down box at the top select the right port that your drive is connected to. You will then see this on your screen.

    3. In the "Flashing Task" drop down box. Select the "LiteOn DVDKey" option. This is what your screen should look like.

    4. Click LiteOn DvdKey and it will ask you where you would like to save the files. Remember that folder I had you make at the beginning? Navigate to that folder and save the files there. Once you select where to save all the files. You will see this screen.***DO NOT CLICK "YES" YET***
    [IMG]
You need to now eject your tray halfway manually. Here is how:
    (source)
    Alternative method

Where the red arrow is pointing is the part that you need to push towards the left. It will unlock the drive and eject the tray and keep the "closed" status. Pull the tray halfway out.

Now you need to get your probe into the R707 hole so you can read the key. Here is a picture of the hole. Put your probe in the hole that the TxD arrow is pointing to. Keep it there the whole time that it is reading the files and key.
Now once your probe is in the R707 hole you can click ok and it will start to read the key and files.

    5. Once your key has been fully read and the files have been read you will see this. If you do not have 10 "Valids" then do not continue. You need to re-extract until you get all 10 Valid.
Click ok. Now its time to unlock and erase the drive.

    6. In the "Flashing Task" drop down box. Select LiteOn Erase as the task. Screen should look like this.
Now click LiteOn Erase. If the erase is successful you will be shown this screen.

    7. Now close DosFlash. You have to close it! If you don't you will only be returned with a "No flash chip properties" when you try to write to the drive. It will ask you if you would like to enable all of your dvd drives. Just select yes.

Now its time to make the modded firmware. You can learn how to make the firmware in Azzid's tutorial.
Start at "Writing the Modded Firmware to your 360 Drive"

Instead of the "orig.bin" that is in Azzid's tutorial. Yours is named "dummy.bin".
After step 6 in the "Writing the Modded Firmware to your 360 Drive" part of the tutorial come back to this one. DO NOT GO PAST STEP 6 IN AZZID'S TUT!

    8. Now open DosFlash again. Remember if you are using Vista or 7 you need to right click and run as Admin. When it opens you will be shown this screen again.
Now this time you will select "Yes". Reason is because the drive is now unlocked and will respond to the MTK Vendor Intro. You should be taken back to the normal screen that you have been using the whole time. Remember it might switch ports on you. If so just select the right port that is connected to your lite-on.

    9. Now that you have the modded firmware made and drive is unlocked it is time to flash it like any other drive. In the "Flashing Task" drop down box select the Write option. This is what your screen should look like at this point.
Now click the Write Flash button. It will now ask for you to select your modded firmware. Navigate to where you saved your modded firmware and open it and it will start flashing the firmware to the drive. This is what you will get if your flash is successful.

Congratulations you have successfully flashed your Xbox 360 Lite-On drive.

Great tutorial man, easy to read and follow. I'm going to be using this guide as soon as 1.61fw is released. If I already have my key from my Liteon drive, from when it was flashed from original firmware to 1.51, which steps can I leave out? Thank You, and sorry if it has been answered.

If you already have your dvd key then all you have to do is. Make the 1.61 firmware with the dummy.bin you already have. Then erase(Use the regular erase in the flashing task) the lite-on and then write to it.

    Hi there,
I live in South Africa and I am wanting to mod my Xbox 360 because games here cost R800($100) and that is way to pricey!

I have the Lite-On drive and have read this tutorial and feel very confident as I know my way around a PC and have built a lot in the past.

But one thing I am un-sure about:
    In step 4 you say
What probe is this? Do I have to buy this thing? Is there no way around using the probe? Where can I buy it to ship to SA?

    Thanks and good tutorial:thumbup:

ADD ON: I have searched around and it looks like that probe thing is connected to some device... have you left out any steps in this TUT or am I missing something?
    Thanks

There are no steps left out in this tutorial.

    You buy either.
    Maximus Xtractor 360 with spear
    or
    Xecuter CK3 Pro with probe

These are both connectivity kits. They make it where you don't have to use your 360 to power the drive. The have a port for the spear/probe add-on. I have left no steps out of this tutorial.

ok thanks... I saw in a Youtube vid that the guy had the "Xecuter CK3 Pro with probe" hooked up to something other than just the probe into the hole...

http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/images/D/xecuter-ck3-probe.jpg shows the Kit(correct?)... what does the green wire do?

    Thanks you for your help

*Update 2018* - all the links were broken so I've removed them ~Azzid

That green wire is the drives power cable. That would hook up to the connectivity kit and you would put the probe in the R707 hole.

    Either buy.

    Maximus 360 Xtractor PRO 360Xtractor - ModChips - Xbox 360 - ConsoleSource.com
    and
    Maximus 360 Xtractor Spear - ModChips - Xbox 360 - ConsoleSource.com

    or

    Maximus USB Xtractor Kit w/ Power Unit - ModChips - Xbox 360 - ConsoleSource.com

    then last option is

    Xecuter 360 Connectivity Kit V3 Lite - ModChips - Xbox 360 - ConsoleSource.com
    and
    Xecuter 360 Connectivity Kit V3 Probe - ModChips - Xbox 360 - ConsoleSource.com

I personally use the Xtractor360 with spear and have never ever had a problem with it.

All it does is connect to a 4 pin power connector on your pc. Then from the connectivity kit the dvd power cable goes to the drive. So instead of the 360 powering it the connectivity kit powers the drive from power it draws from your pc.

It uses the spear to read the lite-on's dvd key.
It makes flashing 1000 times easier.

That is the serial cable. Its to transfer the dvd key information to your computer. IF you don't have a serial port on your computer. Then there is also a usb port on it to transfer the information.

Yes you can play on live with a modded drive. BUT you can be banned for it. I went a year and a half before being banned. Today was my 360's doom day.

hi is just the liteons that you use the Xecuter CK3 Pro with probe with, or can you use it on the other brands of xbox dvd as well, i assume you can use it to power all the drives but do you use it to get the keys and why is so important to keep the original keys, surly you would not want to go back to paying for original games.?
    Thanks

You only need for Lite-on... dunno why u would wnat to use it if you dont need to:?

    QUESTION:
I have found a friend that has the kit and he is gonna do it for me... now once he has done it once, do you need the Xecuter for EVERY time you wanna re-flash/update or do you just use it once?
    Thanks

Probe is only used for a lite-on's first flash after that the probe is no longer needed for it.
Yes you can power all drives with the CK3
You need the dvd keys because without them. Your xbox will not play games at all. Only DVD's. It is a good idea to keep them incase something ever goes wrong with the flashed drive.

The probe is only needed for the lite-on on the first flash. After that it is no longer needed.
