Tutorial how to edit the different bloodfx color and stuff like that?

just wondering how do we edit the colors for the bloodfx colors and stuff when you walk and how you have it when you walk im just wondering or is this all texture editing because i would like to start learning all that texture things and i check this file out there is a network test.dat file found in openiv in the common if we can edit that and maybe someone with a jtag try it out maybe online we might get colors back and all the other good stuff because its testing the network when you load up the files so that might have to do something with the patch so yea

just need a little explaination on the files i want to edit if someone can explain them to me that would be great
