Few quick questions...

Is it safe to GCTF without a custom plate to someone? Can the donor safely sell his original? What happens if the receiver sells it and the donor tries to sell it later?

If you receive a GCTF with a custom plate but you don't have the same custom plate before receiving it, it's now a dirty dupe right? What happens if you make the same custom plate afterwards? Is there any way to clean it without duping over it with a clean original?

What happens if you make a custom license plate, put it on your own original car, then delete the license plate in ifruit? Will the car plate revert back to its original license #? Can you just make a new custom plate and apply that to it? If it screws up the car, is there any way to un-screw it?

Thanks guys!

So to keep the original owner safe, he'd have to buy the same vehicle, merge the 1st original he gctf to the new original, then get rid of the first original by clean-duping over it or putting it in a full garage and replacing it with an npc car? That would get rid of the first original car+plate for the original owner?

So what i did in the past is, use a magic slot to clear the plate so it is blank. That way they can dupe and gift it as much as they want and it does not effect your plates

If you duped it with a blank plate donor car it would be the same thing

If the owner of a car passes it out, it's safe for the owner, as long as the car has his custom plate he can still sell it. When he passes it to someone else it's dirty for the receiver, unless the receiver also owns the custom plate. If both players own the custom plate, they can both safely sell the car.

The only exception to this rule that I know of is what cmcleod stated. If you have a blank plate from a bmx on the car, a "magic spot" plate, both players can sell the car. Just because the plate is blank, doesn't mean it's safe to sell. It's only one specific blank plate out of at least 100s of possibilities.

If the game allows you to create the plate of a car you received, it will clean that car for you. The game doesn't generally allow this though. If you only own a couple cars with the plate, it probably would.

So gctf'ing with an original plate makes it dirty for both the owner and the receiver? If yes, what happens if the owner sells it with the original plate and the receiver keeps it? Is the owner busted for selling a dirty dupe?

What if the owner puts a custom plate on it after gctf'ing it while it still had the original plate? Is it clean for the owner and dirty for the receiver?

Thanks for helping clear this stuff up guys!

let me preface this by telling you that gta doesn't always detect dirty dupes, sometimes it takes a bit for it to notice. other times it won't notice if there's only a few of them. when you first pass someone a car with gctf, it's not normally dupe detected. you can always test if a car is dupe detected by applying a custom plate. if you successfully apply a custom plate, that car is clean.

So gctf'ing with an original plate makes it dirty for both the owner and the receiver?
yes, the game will not like 2 of the same plate, in the same lobby, with no one owning it as a custom plate.

What if the owner puts a custom plate on it after gctf'ing it while it still had the original plate? Is it clean for the owner and dirty for the receiver?
It would be clean for the owner and dirty for the receiver. The receivers car is unlikely to be dupe detected though, unless they join a lobby, with someone with the same plate, after they receive it. It would also likely be detected if they have multiple cars with that plate, generally 3+.

If you are messing with selling dirty cars all you ever have to do to protect yourself is, apply a custom plate. If you can apply custom plate text, the car isn't dupe detected. A car can be dirty, and not dupe detected.

That clears it up I think, thank you. So as long as the game will allow you to change the plate, it's still clean. And if you have a custom plate on it, it doesn't care if someone else has the same plate since it's custom.

What about gctf vehicles that don't have(?)/allow you to change the plate like the half-track or apc?

If you receive a gctf that has a custom plate but didn't make the same one prior to gctf'ing it, that would be dirty if I understand correctly. Can you just apply your own custom plate afterwards to clean it? What happens if you create the same custom plate after receiving? Even if you weren't dupe detected, wouldn't the game know the car has a custom plate that you don't have yourself?

And if you receive a gctf, you should always put your own custom plate on it just to be extra safe?
