I have a spending limit of about $900 for this computer. I want it to go fast as s*** and be able to play games smooth as butter lol. It is mainly for gaming. Just build your dream computer for me .

Trust me. Tigerdirect.com
IS WAY BETTER. FREE SHIPPING. NO SALES TAX. (Unless your in NC, FL or IL)

I could help you build a computer as good as mine.

Here are my specs and referrals.

Mobo
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4316659&Sku=P450-9124
This is MY mobo.

Here is one that supports 1336 socket CPU's.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4496437&CatId=4068
Here is the ONLY CPU it supports.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5975150&CatId=4072

Hint:The motherboard I have now, supports 775 CPU sockets. Other boards support higher sockets, which support like Intel i7 or i3. The link is the motherboard I bought. You can get better, but my pc is a general work station.

HDD
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5265070&CatId=4357

Hint: Tera-byte! 1TB is a GREAT HDD. Although if you feel. Get a 2TB HDD.

DVDBurner
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4959272&Sku=O451-1012%20OEM

Hint: Something sweet and special that will get the job done.

Ram
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=4505197&sku=K24-6040&srkey=k246040

This is the ram i'm getting.

Hint:biggrin:ual Channel, 1066MHz is "ok" but higher is better. If you are making a gaming pc, than you want a gaming pc and are using the ASUS mobo I told you about, then get 24GB of memory. But you will HAVE to run WIn7 or XP on a 64BIT.

CPU
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3877291&CatId=3677
This CPU is a 775 socket.

Hint: When getting a CPU for your motherboard, make sure they're compatible.
Socket 775 will only fit boards supporting 775 sockets.

PWRSPLY
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4558892&CatId=2534

This is the one I'm referring you to. I don't have this one. This one is a 800 watt power supply.

Hint:If you are gaming, look for a 700+ watt.

Graphics Card
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6045774&CatId=3669

Hint: Graphics cards like this one ^ are greatly priced and well performing cards at that.

And now...
Your total is... 798.93
Your total will be higer now. There was a change for the HDD.

This so the same thing I sent to Zygo. Amazing PC. Although with the graphics card. on Tigerdirect.com you could upgrade for 100 more to a better DDR3 or DDR5 ONLY graphic card

Omg no this thread is full of fail. Geese fix your links so I know what parts you're recommending.

FYI, A computer under $1000 isn't going to be able to handle all the demanding games out that you're probably going to want to play (Crysis, Metro 2033, BFBC:2, DiRT2, the list goes on).

Expect to spend closer to $2000+ for something that is "fast as s***" and is mainly for gaming.

Give me a list of all the games you play/plan on buying in the near future.

Keep in mind that DX11 is out so you're probably going to want a ATI 5000 series or a nVidia 400 series all of which aren't exactly cheap. Hell from I've seen the top of the line ati card is almost as much as what you want to build an entire system for LMAO!

For $900 I could build you an outdated PC made for internet browsing and playing WoW.

f*** maybe I should just make guide for high end gaming PC's.

(Go look at my build thread to get an idea of what you need for a "high end" gaming PC that's already outdated thanks to DX11 but still pulls its own and maxes out crysis with playable framerates, which reminds me I need to update that bastard with all the crazy stuff I've done to it)

OP what size is your monitor/ what resolution are you running at because a GT240 will "work" for lower resolutions but forget about once you step up past 22" screens.

Lol you guys must be running at low resolutions. 1680x1050 and up will bring those systems to their knees if you try to use a low end graphics card (like the GT240) on anything above medium settings. God forbid you try and turn on AA. You'll probably get like 10 FPS...

You need ATLEAST a GTX 260 to run Crysis @ 1680x1050 all settings set to high. No AA or other filters. Even then it won't be that smooth. Average frames will be around 20.

BRB I'm going go do a little benchmark with crysis to show you what I mean.

Ok back this is what I got.

My single GTX 260 Core 216 stock clocks and Q9400 @ 3.2GHz get the following in Crysis on the first level up to the COM station.

1680x1050
All settings set to Very High (Max)
AA @ 2x

And I get a average framerate of 20. Keep in the mind the human eye needs to see atleast 24 FPS for it look like a moving image. 30 FPS is ok and 60 FPS ideal so you can vsync and not have screen tearing. 120 FPS is ideal for the new 3d monitors.

Trevor is your price limit still $900 or can we move it up to say something like $1500?
