    Which one is better and why? i am indecisive about which one to buy. i have google'd tons of times and simply i see a 50/50 split haha. so overall which one is better?

    do you think a vga cooler is necassary with either cards?
    I heard they both run kinda hot.

    Unless you plan on overclocking you should be fine.

    Maybe you could even OC a little without needing to mess with the cooling.

    You're going to build your own though, right?

    That isn't a very good deal if you can build your own.

    Besides, quad cores aren't that great with gaming since most games aren't optimized to use more than 2.

    might want to cut out an AMD processor as they have been kind of slow in the market. Intel has been owning majority of the pc markets but AMD has been owning server markets.

    get the 4870, you will not be disappointed.

    Depending on the games he plays, 4870 most likely will beat it in terms of fps and the AA and AF used. the 260 just beats when it plays on a lower resolution though. If your LCD is larger then a 22" get a 4870, anything lower then a 20" get a 260.
