There are several trouble shooting steps you can take in order to get your game working again. Firstly though if you had any modified files in your game directory I recommend removing them and then have the game verify itself and its files before it downloads any that are broken or missing. You can find out how to do this (dependent on version, steam etc) in the above guide. Also make sure that your graphics drivers amd direct x etc are up to date these being out of date or 'borked' could lead to your game crashing.
To troubleshoot general GTAV PC issues, try the steps below:
First and foremost, be sure to launch the game while connected to the Internet so that you get the latest patch. It will be automatically applied if you don’t have it. Patches address many issues reported by players, and the full list of issues fixed by each patch can be found on this page.
Be sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. Update your drivers to the versions shown here (or higher).
Next, check to see that you have the latest version of Social Club installed, and that there are no corrupt or missing files for that installation. Follow the steps on this page to quickly reinstall Social Club to see if that resolves your issue.
If your Social Club launcher is starting, but the game will not launch, try verifying your installation. This will let the Social Club launcher (or Steam, for Steam versions) verify all game files and re-download any that are corrupt or missing.
For the standalone, Rockstar Warehouse version:
Hit "Start", "Run", and type "cmd" without the quotes. Hit enter.
Type "cd c:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V" without the quotes in the cmd window that pops up. Hit enter.
Note: If you’ve installed the game to a different directory, enter that directory instead.
Type "GTAVLauncher.exe -verify" in this window (no quotes again) and hit enter.
For the Steam version:
Right click the game in the “Library” tab.
Click “Properties”.
Click the “Local Files” tab.
Click “Verify integrity of game cache…”
If you are seeing any errors with “C++”, “D3D”, or “DirectX”, there may be an issue with your DirectX or C++ installation. Try reinstalling the software prerequisites manually using the links found on this page.
Any Anti-Virus program could potentially block GTAV access, especially when not properly configured for use with GTAV. Please make sure that GTAV is listed as an exception in these programs. If the issue persists, please try disabling or temporarily uninstalling the program to test the issue. If the game launches successfully after disabling or uninstalling, we recommend using a different anti-virus to prevent future issues.
Check your “launcher.log” file located in “My Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V”. There are helpful errors there that may give more information to assist you in resolving the problem. You can search the Support Site for specific info in that file.
There is also a PC specific support section or knowledge base to be found here, hopefully some of the articles there can also help you get back to playing asap.
