I don't think you can flash using a laptop you need a desktop with the sata chipset

I've heard of laptops working, but I've tried it many MANY times with $50+ spent on trying to get it to work, and countless hour spent- and nothing seems to work. If you can just get access to a PC and buy a VIA card it will save you much, much money and a huge headache. My .02 anyway.

EDIT:
By the way, even if you can get the USB to SATA to work it only works on old hitachi drives.

Chances are is that it isnt a PCMIA slot if its a new laptop (2 years old atleast) But if it is, then yeah that card works great.
