FLASHGET showing as virus

it came up in AVG shortly after i had installed flashget from their official site.

AVG said that i had a Trojan horse SHeur2.NF in the updates folder of flashget
what is this?

Ah, yes. I believe the FlashGet site was hacked several months ago and a virus/spyware (something) was set to download as an update. It only effected the new version of FlashGet (I use the legacy one).

This was months old, though.

AVG calls everything viruses. Flashget is definitely not though.

Depending on where you downloaded it, it might be, but if you got it from flashget.com you should be fine. AVG is probably just accidentally picking it up as a backdoor downloader.

ah, i see. yeah, i got it from the official site.
also, when i add links, e.g rapidshare downloads, it goes through all of them and says its downloaded, but they dont open when i try to unrar the files, says they are corrupt...

Exactly why I don't use them anymore. I mean c'mon, if you're going to grab my attention and tell me something is a virus- It better be a ****ing virus.

AVG used to be good, then it got more popular while simultaneously becoming less effective.

Avira + Outpost Firewall + VMWare + Sandboxie = Win.

in VMWare you can test to see if the program makes any connection and you can sandboxie it so it doesnt read the info on the HDD. Also Avira is better then AVG. AVG detects EVERYTHING as a virus.
