This goes out to you, newbies! So, you wake up in Doc Mitchell's home, and this is where you start to create your hero. You customize your looks, skills, and stats. In the beginning, it is wise to put your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points into Intelligence as it will help greatly. Your tagged skills should be; Guns/Energy Weapons, Repair, and Speech/Barter. Other skills should be Lockpick/Science, Unarmed/Melee, and Medicine. I've had multiple playthroughs and endings, and I know how most speech options can go. Having a high Speech can save yourself a lot of time and effort whilst still getting the same results.

Anyway, when you finally walk out of Doc Mitchell's office, you are able to walk around Goodsprings, and unless you want to be an evil ****, you should stay on everyone's good side. Go into the Prospector Saloon and talk to Sunny Smiles. She will take you on the tutorial, which makes my job of writing a walkthrough a hell of a lot easier. You'll start by shooting empty Sunset Sarsaparilla bottles. Crouching and standing still will ALWAYS help your aiming with any gun. Once you are done with the target practice, Sunny will take you to take out some Geckos. Go with her to the locations of the Geckos and kill them. There will be one Goodsprings Settler getting attacked by two and you should save her to be a good person. Here you can either get involved in Survival or progress through the rest of the intro. Survival, in my opinion, is a waste of time, so I would skip it. Anyway, go back to the saloon and talk to Trudy. She will be arguing with Joe Cobbs, a member of the Powder Gangers, who you can help to take over Goodsprings at the cost of a lot of Karma. If you want to help Goodsprings, you can talk to Trudy about Ringo, and then you should go talk to him at the gas station. But first, ask Trudy about repairing her radio [20 Repair].

Once you have found Ringo and talked to him about his problem with the Powder Gangers, you can recruit the rest of Goodsprings to help with the fight, or end up with just you, Ringo, Victor Sunny, and Cheyenne. With high speech, barter, and explosives, you can get the edge in this fight. Talk to Pete about his dynamite, and with high enough explosives [25 (?)] he will give you 5 sticks. Talking to Trudy with a high speech [(20-30)] to convince her to join the fight. Going to Chet at the general store with a Barter of 30 will convince him to arm the town with Leather Armor, which, aside from increasing their DT, it makes the whole town look bad-***. Once you have recruited everyone, talk to Ringo and the fight will begin. The Powder Gangers are an easy fight, and the loot they drop is good for the beginning of the game. Chet can offer a lot of goods as well, so be sure to trade in any extra loot there.

So, by now, you should have everything you need to cover the basics of the game. Your intro should be nearly (if not) completed, and you should be pretty stacked to start your journey into the Mojave Wasteland. Your quest should take you south into Primm, and you must restore order to it. But, as inclined as I am to help you, this is where the Introduction Walkthrough must end. Any further questions can be taken up in a PM, reply to this, or check it out on the wikia.
FACTIONS - PROS AND CONS:

NCR:

The largest and most powerful faction in the game. Helping them has proved to be very beneficial to me and shaping my character and the Mojave Wasteland into how I would personally put it, were this really happening. Being on the NCR's bad side is not good, because the NCR is basically in control of most of the Wasteland and simply fast traveling to somewhere could make an entire outpost turn hostile because the NCR does not like you. I've helped the NCR on 2/3 saves, and you can always side with the NCR in the beginning and then go independent later on.

Caesar's Legion:

The 2nd largest faction in the game. This is the more evil approach to taking the dam, as Caesar is a dictator, slaver, and merciless killer. Even though you help him, he will still treat you like s*** and constantly insult you, which most likely will provoke you to kill him or pick another side. I sided with him on 1/3 of my saves and in my opinion, it was only good for achievements. Messing with the NCR was pretty fun, at times, though.

Mr. House:

I've never sided with House yet, so I can't really say how fun it was going through his quest line. He is, however, 261 years old and all he wants is to restore New Vegas to its pre-War glory. He does not care about anything outside New Vegas, though. He is also somewhat of a tyrant. He will ask you to fight against both the NCR and the Legion, but will provide you with his army of Securitrons. I'd rather side with House than the Legion, to be honest.

Independent/Yes Man:

This is the good approach to taking the dam, New Vegas needs its independence. It is too early to be being run by a government like the NCR, and independence would do New Vegas some good. I've done this on 1/3 of my saves and when the DLC is released that continues the main story, I would LOVE to see how running New Vegas turns out. Oh, and this ending is how the pros go. Just saying.

Brotherhood of Steel:

Siding with these guys is probably one of the best things you can do. They have the best technology in the game and as much as I wish they had an impact on taking the dam, they do not. The BoS is interested in HELIOS One, and not much else. Siding with them gives you access to one of the best shops in the game, and I love the BoS and always have.

Followers of the Apocalypse:

You can't really NOT side with the FotA, you can just choose to ignore them though. They are about helping those in need and promote non-violence most of the time. Siding with them gives you cheap medical supplies and makes you feel like a good Samaritan.

White Glove Society:

A bunch of cannibals. Kill them all. Except Chauncey, he's a boss.

Great Khans:

Burdened by a horrible past, and hated by most of the Mojave Wasteland. They are like civilized Fiends, and I do enjoy helping them. My first playthrough, I exterminated them all in Red Rock Canyon and I felt horrible, honestly. Go through their quest and if you don't like them, then do whatever you want. But helping them gets you some caps and recipes and an unarmed trick. Keep that in mind.

Underline denotes a major faction, meaning the faction has its own ending.
ENDINGS:

Due to their being so many endings, I will instead post a link to the wikia's page which is much more in depth than what I would've typed.

LINK.
COMPANIONS:

These will go in order for permanent companions, how to get them, and how I rate them.

ED-E:

ED-E is short for Eyebot Duraframe Model-E. It is obviously originating from the Enclave. Not a very good partner overall, but better than Rex, I suppose. You find him in the Nash's Residence in Primm and have to have 65 repair, or spare parts. Check the wikia about that, I can't remember the rest. 5/10, 7/10 when upgraded.

ROSE OF SHARON CASSIDY (CASS):

Cass used to own a caravan, until the Van Graffs and Crimson Caravan Company took them out. You can find her at the Mojave Outpost and to acquire her, you must talk to Alice McLafferty at the Crimson Caravan Company and ask for work. Be warned, Cass will have to be killed if you go down this quest a certain way. 7.5/10

BOONE:

Boone is a wizard. Plain and simple. Ex-1st Recon Sniper, means that you can hand him any rifle and he will take the hat off a Fiend at 100 yards. Literally. Having Boone around has saved my *** more than once and his quests were definitely the most fun I've ever had in this game. He is found at Novac past 9PM. To recruit him, you have to get him to kill Jeannie May Crawford by getting the Bill of Sale in the floor safe behind the Dino-Bite Reception Desk. 10/10

VERONICA:

If you talk to Elder McNamara, he will tell you that there are few people in the BoS who are allowed to freely come and go from the Hidden Valley bunker. Veronica is one of them. She is the equivalent to Muhammad Ali, except female and with a jacked up Power Fist. Walking around with her, you will realize that she packs a punch (lol pun) and that she will frequently scare the s*** out of you when the VATS cinematic goes to her point-of-view when she randomly punches a baby Cazadore in the face. Quite funny, actually. She is at the 188 Trading Post, and giving her a White Glove Society Attire or Formal Wear will make her teach you the Scribe Counter move. 9/10

ARCADE GANNON:

A researcher for the Followers of the Apocalypse. He can be found at the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside and he is also a part of the Enclave Remnants found in the Mojave Wasteland. He uses a Plasma Defender pistol and he helps you heal better. I haven't really used him, but completing his quest will allow the Remnants to fight for you during the battle of Hoover Dam and also give you Power Armor Training. 7/10

REX:

The King's personal cyberdog whose brain is functioning poorly and you can offer to seek treatment for Rex by Doctor Henry in Jacobstown. Rex's perk allows you to see objects that have loot. Good for finding hard-to-spot boxes, bodies, or hollowed-out rocks. He always runs up to an enemy and bites them. He is fairly easy to be knocked unconscious, but he is good for taking hits. Hehe. 7/10

RAUL TEJADA:

A ghoul mechanic who is held prisoner at Black Mountain by Tabitha, a hostile Nightkin. To free him, you must venture up Black Mountain and rescue him from the prisoner's building. There are a lot of Super Mutants and Nightkin here so it is recommended to come here at a high level or with a lot of stimpaks and good equipment. He uses a revolver and can repair your items. Also, while he is your companion, your armor degrades 50% slower. 8/10

LILY BOWEN:

A friendly Nightkin who suffers from the typical diseases that most Nightkin suffer from. The stealth boys they use give them schizophrenia and in Lily's case, she has a bad loss of memory. She was formerly part of the Master's army and now she peacefully resides in Jacobstown. You can tell her to be a part of Doctor Henry's stealth boy mk. II experiments for a cure to the Nightkin's schizophrenia. She is a strong companion, and she wields a vertibird blade or a silenced Assault Carbine. Her perk makes stealth boys last twice as long. 8/10
UNIQUE ITEMS:

Items in parenthesis denote the item that the unique item was based on or can be repaired by.

Pistols:

Lucky (.357 Magnum) - Found in a locked [Average] safe in the Bison Steve Motel in Primm.

Maria (9mm pistol) - Used by Benny. Now the fun part. Your inventory. You can swap form IDs that you currently have for any item in the game, including cut content. You can also change the condition of your gun so that it seemingly never degrades. Also, you can change the quantity of the item. Form IDs can be found on the wikia, just search for the item you want and the form ID will be under the stats and overview of the item. Double-click the item you want to change in your inventory, and change the form IDs and click "Update". Once you've done everything, save your changes, rehash and resign, and overwrite the previous save. I've helped the NCR on 2/3 saves, and you can always side with the NCR in the beginning and then go independent later on. Caesar's Legion: The 2nd largest faction in the game. Mr. House: I've never sided with House yet, so I can't really say how fun it was going through his quest line. Independent/Yes Man: This is the good approach to taking the dam, New Vegas needs its independence. It is too early to be being run by a government like the NCR, and independence would do New Vegas some good. I've done this on 1/3 of my saves and when the DLC is released that continues the main story, I would LOVE to see how running New Vegas turns out. Oh, and this ending is how the pros go. Just saying. Brotherhood of Steel: Siding with these guys is probably one of the best things you can do. They have the best technology in the game and as much as I wish they had an impact on taking the dam, they do not. The BoS is interested in HELIOS One, and not much else. Siding with them gives you access to one of the best shops in the game, and I love the BoS and always have. Followers of the Apocalypse: You can't really NOT side with the FotA, you can just choose to ignore them though. They are about helping those in need and promote non-violence most of the time. Siding with them gives you cheap medical supplies and makes you feel like a good Samaritan. White Glove Society: A bunch of cannibals. Kill them all. Except Chauncey, he's a boss. Great Khans: Burdened by a horrible past, and hated by most of the Mojave Wasteland.
ENDINGS: Due to their being so many endings, I will instead post a link to the wikia's page which is much more in depth than what I would've typed. LINK.
COMPANIONS: These will go in order for permanent companions, how to get them, and how I rate them. ED-E: ED-E is short for Eyebot Duraframe Model-E. ROSE OF SHARON CASSIDY (CASS): Cass used to own a caravan, until the Van Graffs and Crimson Caravan Company took them out. You can find her at the Mojave Outpost and to acquire her, you must talk to Alice McLafferty at the Crimson Caravan Company and ask for work. Be warned, Cass will have to be killed if you go down this quest a certain way. 7.5/10 BOONE: Boone is a wizard. 10/10 VERONICA: If you talk to Elder McNamara, he will tell you that there are few people in the BoS who are allowed to freely come and go from the Hidden Valley bunker. 9/10 ARCADE GANNON: A researcher for the Followers of the Apocalypse. 7/10 REX: The King's personal cyberdog whose brain is functioning poorly and you can offer to seek treatment for Rex by Doctor Henry in Jacobstown. Rex's perk allows you to see objects that have loot. Good for finding hard-to-spot boxes, bodies, or hollowed-out rocks. He always runs up to an enemy and bites them. He is fairly easy to be knocked unconscious, but he is good for taking hits. Hehe. 7/10 RAUL TEJADA: A ghoul mechanic who is held prisoner at Black Mountain by Tabitha, a hostile Nightkin. 8/10 LILY BOWEN: A friendly Nightkin who suffers from the typical diseases that most Nightkin suffer from. 8/10
UNIQUE ITEMS: Items in parenthesis denote the item that the unique item was based on or can be repaired by. Pistols: Lucky (.357 Magnum) - Found in a locked [Average] safe in the Bison Steve Motel in Primm.
SNOWGLOBES:

DEAD MONEY: Companions: DEAN DOMINO: A ghoul who was a pre-War celebrity, now tries to survive out in the Villa by himself. He later turns on you, I don't know if there's a peaceful resolution to it but I somewhat enjoyed killing him. His tuxedo is always fun to wear. Not a bad companion, either. He does work with a handgun. 7/10 CHRISTINE: A BoS knight who was sent to Sierra Madre to try and kill Father Elijah. She was trapped in an auto-doc and she was gravely injured from it. She speaks to you in a "charades" type of way, but you don't really see that. Later on, (spoiler) she finds a working auto-doc and fixes herself up, and she can talk again. It is then that she tells you what she was sent to Sierra Madre for. I don't think I've used her as a companion, but I imagine she can't do a lot. 5/10 DOG AND GOD: A nightkin that traps people for Father Elijah. By playing God's holotape, God comes out; and by playing Father Elijah's holotape, Dog comes out. Dog can literally slaughter the ghost people by himself and I think that Dog/God has the highest HP in the game. Even higher than the Legate Lanius. I loved having Dog with me, literally did all the killing for me. 10/10 UNIQUE ITEMS: There aren't any unique items, per se, but there are a few items that only appear once. They are just not classified as unique. Assassin Suit - It's found in the Medical District of the Sierra Madre villa. Click the link for more info about it. Holorifle - You are given this at the start of Dead Money, it is unwise to get rid of it, as you can only get while you're in the Sierra Madre. MODS: Ah, my favorite topic. What you're going to need, is Modio/Xport 360/Xsata or whatever the f*** you use. I don't know nor do I care. Now, get your save onto your desktop. Download this. Open your save in that program and make whatever changes you need to your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. and skills. It's a simple process, and if I have to explain it any further, I'm going to ban you.
