Alright so originally I had the E74 error. I fixed that but then I would play it for two minutes and it would overheat. Keep in mind my 360 was manufactured in September of 2005, so its over four years old now. I have never sent it in to Microsoft. But I did do the penny fix back when halo 3 came out so that was about two years ago. I figured the cpu and gpu thermal compound was gone so I did the x-clamp fix. No longer overheats but now I have the 0102 RRoD. I redid the xclamp fix numerous times. I let the gpu overheat without the fan. Then I let it cool down and then as a last resort I redid the penny fix or eraser fix, whatever you want to call it. Just for kicks, I even did the ole' towel trick. What should I do? I know most people are going to say, why are you complaining, you have had your xbox since it came out and you haven't bought another one or sent that one in. Well I really want to keep my original 360. So is there anyway I can fix this? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Yup sometimes all that needs to be done is experiment with how tight you put the screws.
Well I loosed them to where the gpu heatsink could move a tad bit. Tried it got 0102. Then I just made them snug. Tried it, still got 0102. Then I tightened them even more. Still 0102. So basically its fried?

Let both the CPUG and GPU overheat. Wait for it to get 2 red lights then let it go for about 2 more minutes. After that if it stays the same. Yes i think its done for.

try to tighten the skrews up snug, then loosen them up a half turn, test it, if it dont work do another half turn...ect..... the pressure is verry sensitive.

also i found this on the 0102
0102 unknown error
  • though it's most likely GPU related literally means the console does not know what is wrong. possibly a short or cold solder joint somewhere. So far there is 1 major theory for what causes most of these errors is that the Ram, CPU, or GPU are not soldered properly to the mother board due either to poor manufacturing or excessive heat up and cool down cycles that stress, weaken and eventually break the soldered connection.
There are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS to have it replaced. I have also heard of limited success by simply switching the AV cable from "HDTV" mode to "TV" mode
