Okay i have been wondering, we just buy say... gears of war 2 on the marketplace and downloads directly to our hard drive right? technically the game is around 4.8 gigs or so.. anyways my point is... can u save a disc u have to your hard drive? if so how long would that take? maybe just a rough estimate?

cause via wifi 4.8 gigs will take a while...

thanks guys, please no noobs answer trying to explain to me, i want something good with this **** to answer lol

You cant buy them on the marketplace... that would open it up to alot of piracy. you can ONLY install them on your HDD via an original disk. and even then its only to improve load times and performance since you need the disc in your drive to play it.

I read you can load the game to the HDD, load it from the disc and then take the disc out and put it in another 360 so you can both play. true or not?

True. But you can't just press eject. You have to open it the manual way. A little more complicated than just pressing a button.

An hour? Halo 2 only took about 10 minutes though (on the original XBox).

From what i have read, even the largest 360 games that are not multi disc are installed in about 10-12 minutes. Many factors can change this though, such as fragmentation of the hard drive, or a damaged game.

OP, Gears of War 2 is 6.7GB

Here is a thread on another forum that shows the sizes of various games.

Halo 2 took a shorter time because it was probably around 3GB. Games like GTA:IV could take up a whole DVD-DL, which is 8.5GB.

i posted about this on the thread about the early NxE people not being able to play, but i really think poeple need to work on this: if you downloaded a game straight to your HDD (thourgh xport or xsata) then used a fake disk for the security check, would mircrosoft be able to detect you, becouse your playing it off the hardrive, and if you did what(cant see user name) said, and you and a friend were playing the same disk by hotswapping, wouldnt it work the same way, accept you kind of cheated the security check? (and as a side question, if this worked, wouldnt you only need to copy a very small portion of the game, figuring out what part it checks, you would be able to play games on nomral dvds and what-not)
