I prefer Reach over Halo 4, too many unskilled players in H4 for a challenge.

The gameplay for Reach seems a lot better than 4's. There's just something with the actual motion, shooting, and sounds that puts me off.

Yeah thats one of the things which put me off the game is the sound effects. Its not halo anymore without the classic sniper shot and the classic look of the original weapons

Let's see what Halo 4 has going for it then, shall we?

- Removal of core features and gametypes (Why do we have Grifball, but no Classic Assault variant?)
- Bloating of the sandbox with virtually identical weapons that fill the same role (midrifles, I'm looking at you)
- Implementation of roll-the-dice 'everybody's a winner' playstyle (lol Ordinance)
- Core features returning months behind schedule (File Share, I'm looking at you)
- Implementation of perks to further dilute the skill gap
- Inability to scavenge ammuntion/grenades unless you have a damned perk for it
- Removal/limiting of on-map weapon spawns, promoting camping with Loadout/Ordinance weapons
- Poor/limited selection of map availability and design (which, again, hinders movement around the maps and promotes camping)
- Poor weapon balancing (DMR, Boltshot)
- Poor vehicle balancing
- Poor Ability/Perk balancing
- (Some) armour unlocks tied to Commendations (some of which are relatively impossible to complete) over achievements/ranks, frustrating completionists
- Elites unavailable in Multiplayer (despite being in the last three major multiplayer titles)

And for Reach?

- "Armour Lock is too hard to deal with!" (no it isn't, you t**, just back off for a second and wait for them to exit)
- "DMR is too random! Nerf bloom!" (No, just lay off the spam and you might actually hit something)
- "Banshee is OP!" (OK, I'll actually give you this one)

Reach was perhaps the prime example of how Halo could incorporate class-based gameplay - you have a set selection of classes to choose from, there are no weapons overlapping each other (rather than Halo 4 having four midrifles, four heavy weapons, four assault rifles... need I go on?), and all of the Armour Abilites can (if you're not an absolute tool) be countered. If you want to nitpick then the Title Update solved most of the issues, the remaining issues were generally map-based (jetpacks on Reflection), and everything else can be solved by just being a little more patient.

Other than that. Reach had more or less everything its predecessors did, added a sh*tload of new content, and never held your hand while giving you free kills and weapons. The only reason people hate it so vehemently is because they can't wrap their brains around the concept of patience and tactics over running and gunning blindly.

Ideally, Halo 4 should have built from Halo: Reach's successes, fixed the few glaring issues that people were having problems with, and tied it all up in a pretty little ribbon. Instead, we have a watered-down experience designed to appeal to the CoD audience - can you honestly tell me now, having read all of this, that Halo 4 is better than Reach?

Halo 4 has this weird vibe or tint to it that I don't find appealing. I think it has something to do with the way it looks or it feels, I don't know how to explain it.

If you review Halo 4 as a stand-alone game, not comparing it to any other Halo's, what would you all think of it?

Good, but the fact that it is called Halo 4 makes me sad.

One of my favorite features of Halo Reach was the Race gametype. Until 343i adds it to Halo 4, I will definitely prefer Halo Reach (at least in terms of Custom Games).

To me, it feels that way. I played Halo 4 and it really did not feel like a halo game.
Reach had it all in terms of gameplay.

What is your opinion?
Reach=disgusting to call a Halo game, but okay if it wasn't a part of Halo. Halo 4 is good IMO. Miss H3, though :frown:

No, just no. Reach at least got a majority of Halo right. Though saying Reach is better than Halo 4 is like saying poop tastes better with salt. Halo 4 just ruined Halo some more, which led me away from it. It appeals to the Cook of Dooty fanbase, which I already hate with a deep passion.

Agree with the **** of dooty fanbase & feel, but I just think Halo Reach did not feel like Halo at all.

Well I think I had more fun with reach than halo 4. But yes, Halo 3 was my favorite! I just didn't like the xp system that much.

The exp for halo 3 plus the ranking system is the best. Other than halo reach and halo 4 which are like call of duty just shows how much u play the game. But halo 3 has highest skill which can prove how good you are that is if you gained many 50s legit

Reach no sprint no bloom is fine and enjoyable. Halo 4 is **** without a team. At it's core I would say reach, even though it was a piece of ****. Just go and play halo 3.
