OK well im very close to moving in on serious Computer upgrades but im torn on what CPU to get.
As of right now im stuck between 3.

The e8400 C2D @ 3.0 ($165), Which is really, really pushing my budget.

    The Phenom X4 9850 @ 2.5 ($148), Which is a great price.

    And the Phenom X4 9950 @ 2.6 ($165), Same price as C2D, so yeah.

So id like to spend as little as possible.
But i want to know if I'm willing to spend 165 should it be on the Phenom or the C2D
Or is it smarter/better idea to spend less and get the Cheaper AMD Quad Core.
    Please please help!!!
    Thanks

    Gaming wise - e8400
If multi-tasking/video encoding/folding etc then get a quad but now AMD, if you want to go AMD wait for Phenom II that is coming out

Yeah, i plan on Encoding/Burning Movies, and the Multi tasking, with some gaming, but not that much at all.

And are you saying if i choose to get the AMD X4, i should wait 'till the Phenom II comes out?

    Bump
So more opinions would be nice.
    Id like to order soon.

AMD > Intel. Though I do have intel and intel has been better for a little while now, AMD used to be better, and AMD is coming back to the top with the phenom 2. AMD has always been better for gaming, while intel has been better for multitasking.

e8400 is you want to mostly do gaming, and if you're more of a casual user, or more multitasking, then get the 9950.

    Ok, Thank you.
    BUT!
Can i get the 9850, or is it worth the extra dough to get the 9950?
Because im looking to save as much money as possible.

Honestly, unless you're like a hardcore computer user, you won't be able to tell the difference. Unless you're maxing everything out, I would say the 9850 would be fine

Honestly if your doing encoding you can also get a Q9450/9550 they are fantastic. I really suggest Intel since they have been the main competitor in the CPU market. Honestly a Q9450/9550 would beat a Phenom

Just an FYI, the black editions are cheaper because they don't come with a CPU HSF.(Heatsink-fan)

You'd need to get an aftermarket one. (That fits of course)

 Where is this info coming from? AMD has a big competition right now with the i7 extreme. I cant wait to see it but seriously dont place your opinion into facts.
