So it seems Rockstar changed a few things.

They have added fossils, which is a PS4 exclusive for the moment, also they are randomized. If you happen to come across one please upload a screenshot of your in-game map showing location.

They have changed the way items are located within the world, making these also random.

This RDR2 Map has a good explanation on the changes, and what this means for collecting items from going forward. Maybe a way to stop mass-income as sets can gain anywhere from $4000 - $12000+ profit made, along with the XP.

Good, or bad thing?

They probably did this because it was too efficient with the maps. Rockstar hates efficiency. I had 10 full sets when this update came out, got to rank 80 on the new outlaw pass within 15 minutes, would have been a minute if the transaction processing wasn't so damn slow.

I'm gonna say it's a bad thing. I hate random drops, RNG, dumb luck scenarios. If I want that, I will go play slot machines in a real casino. In a video game I want skill based results. I can just see having a full set minus one item that you are unable to find. Beer hats in GTA were a perfect example. I must have got the same hat 12 times in one day, to the point of starting to feel bad for killing other players to get the crate who may not have had any beer hats, only to get something I already had. Now if the system would eliminate items you already have a full stock of, then I would be fine with it. But I seriously doubt Rockstar would go through the trouble to create that.

Either way I'm not too bothered by it at this point, I had nearly a set of each before I discovered the collectors maps online, so by that time I was over the 'thrill of the hunt' aspect of it. I've done 2 full collectors inventories and I'm over collecting, but I do want to get the items needed to buy the trinkets from Gus. Aside from that and finishing up the Legendary animals I will be done with RDR in a week or so until the next big update or lucrative glitch is found.

Just to be clear, are the locations of collectables going to be random, or the item at the locations? If the location is random, then that isn't as bad IMO.

I hear ya. I;m over the changes. I've pretty much done everything with the latest update just need the Sun Gator then everything is bought/completed.

If you need money and have a 2nd friend I will suggest you do my glitch linked below:

If you find the legendary cougar you can sell 5 using the hunting wagon for $170+ which is the highest money making, you could also fill cripps supplys, and make local delivery fairly fast to make quick cash
