My friend has a Linksys wrt110 router and I'm trying to help him get his NAT from moderate to open for Xbox Live. Anyone know of a legitimate way to do it that actually works?

When you put the ports in whats the correct way to set it? Like protocol and what not. I tried it on this site from his laptop and didn't open it up.

He also needs to setup a static ip on his Xbox, and select it when opening ports.

I also told him to do that still no dice...

We were able to get it from strict to moderate but never got it to open.

i have a ****** *** modem and i had Strict NAT - the worst
it took me forever to open it
everything you need is at portforward.com

you gotta have your xbox use a static ip to get to the modem
http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-xbox360.htm

ports you gotta forward...
TCP - 53
TCP - 80
TCP - 3074
UDP - 53
UDP - 88
UDP - 3074

if you need to know where to enter this info, read this guide

If you just put the static Xbox IP into the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) this opens ALL ports to that IP address, which removes the need for opening the ports you specified.
It's safe to have the entire port range open for an Xbox, as it's virtually impossible to exploit the Xbox via conventional backdoor techniques.

Could he have his 360 settings set to automatic and put the ip that is given to him in DMZ or does it have to be a certain ip he has to manually put in?

What exactly should I do in order to open the NAT. That's all I want to do. Would prefer a simple method, but anythings fine as long as it works 100% of the time.
