C:\Users\The Rookie\Pictures\jrunner write ECC
Hi all. I hope this is the right forum to post this question....so here goes.

I have an Xbox 360 all open here, an Elite from 2008 with what I believe is a Falcon board. I bought this second hand and hoped to make a game console out of it for me and the kids. Much to my disappointment, I have the "Play DVD" syndrome on the drive, meaning likely that the previous owner replaced the drive thinking it would solve all of his problems...and of course it did not because he didn't flash over his old DVD key to the drive firmware...so this is where my saga begins! Let me save a lot of grief for you and give you a down an dirty of my frustration history. Bought an IBM with LPT serial port, wired to Xbox and used NandPro to download NAND. Was successful. Thought I had to R-JTag the Xbox in order to recover my DVD key. Installed R-JTag....never has worked, ripped it out...installed CR3Lite (again...all the time thinking I needed to jtag or RGH2 the box in order to get my CPU Key and more importantly to me....the darn DVD Key!)...couldn't get that to work either! So, this is where I'm at.

Removed CR3Lite from board and only connection is Nand-X wiring harness
Read and got 4 identical NAND dumps (using Jungle Flasher this time of course!)
Created ECC* file
Wrote ECC file to NAND (how do you upload a pic of jrunner screenshot!?) I did this by soldering the Nand - X wiring board directly to the board, and using JRunner Programmer to read and write NAND.
Got the following message:

Checking Files
Finished Checking Files
Initializing nanddump3.bin..
Falcon/Opus
RGH Selected
Nand Initialization Finished
RGH2 Selected
Falcon Manually Selected
ECC created
Version: 10
Flash Config: 0x01198010
Writing Nand

Done!

Plugged in power cord (crossed fingers as instructed)
Console WILL not boot to Xell?
All I've got is a blank black screen....a flashing green center light on the console.....and when I hard restart the console...sometimes I get a circle of green lights....but still not boot into Xell?

Question - Do I have to have the mod chip installed in order to boot to Xell to recover my DVD key?

If yes....can I use the CR3Lite chip RGH2 method to get it to glitch?

I would very much appreciate the communities help on this problem. I have read...and read...and read until my eyes are bulging outta my head....but I just cannot find an answer to my dilemma. Please help this old boy!

It is explained in every tutorial that you need the glitch chip installed in order to boot into xell and allow the console to function as an RGH. You can use the CR3 lite with RGH2.

Yes, you absolutely need the mod chip installed. That's what makes the reset pulse. Re-install it.

Also, if you want to upload pictures, download an application named "Greenshot". Once downloaded, if you wish to take a picture, you press the Print Screen key on your keyboard and you can take pictures that way. Greenshot Link.

The only thing you can take out of the Xbox is the NAND-X once you are completely finished with everything. Re-install the CR3 chip.

CR3Lite is soldered in. Programmed with Falcon from JRunner....red light on CR3Lite, no green...won't glitch to Xell? Suggestions?

Have you followed all installation instructions? Make sure you have good connection to the CPU_RST point. Mind posting pics of your soldering?

falcons are a bi*ch to RGH2 try using a 3.3k resistor parallel with a 470pf cap on the coolrunner side of the CPU_RST (D) wire, haven't done it myself but thats what i got told works best, hope this helps fella

Thank you both for your replies. Much appreciated. I will post pics as soon as I get the chance (and if I can figure out how to do so!), and, question to TMR....what is the 470pf cap you are referring to? So in my case, solder the resistor inline on the blue wire but on the coolrunner side of the wire....is that correct? I will also try to re-program the cr3 as well, trying A, B, C, D, (Falcon trial doesn't seem to work!). Thanks again!

Oh yes, btw, I now have SOME life out of the cr3Lite as the green light is flashing sending the pulse now...but not boot into Xell as of yet. I will try the re-programming next, then failing that....solder in the resistor once I get clarification on where exactly it needs to go. Thx.

It would be easier if you tried getting the R-JTAG method to boot. RGH 2 phats blow.

Yes mate the resistor & cap go on the coolrunner side of the blue wire, this is the cap you need http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silvered-...al_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item1c371ee004

But like oblivioncth said r-jtag would be alot better

Some times you can get the play dvd message with a bad laser or a bad ribbion.
I am not saying that's your problem but just giving you more info
Ps are you planning on leaving it a rgh console or are you doing it to just get the dvd key and then returning it to stock.

Alright...I've ordered the cap you've suggested...pretty pricey for that though! This Canadian might as well be Scottish! Anyway, you said I need a resistor AND cap. Can you please link me to another diagram on the assembly? Also, I was just planning to figure out the DVD key then un-install the CR3Lite once complete....but I'm thinking now, if I ever get it running that is, I will play with it a bit and find out what all the hype is about. Another thing....I've cut my blue wire (CPU_RST is it?) short, just long enough to reach the pad....should I be returning it to the original length as supplied? I think I've read somewhere that the wire needs to be left long.....any truth in that? Thanks all for your replies...and yes...I would do R-Jtag....but I think I dummied my board up too much for that now :frown: , so I'm stuck with the CR3Lite & Falcon challenge boys!

Haha I know

Google is your friend dude
treble-bleed-cap-resistor.png

left side to coolrunner D pad/ right side to Blue (CPU_RST) wire

Yes i have read its best to have the blue (CPU_RST) the full 50cm but i have never tested it myself, although i do have a falcon laying around and a spare chip so i might give it a try...... maybe!

Thanks bro! As soon as I get my cap, I will give your help a shot. Really appreciate you taking the time. I will update if I make progress any other way also.

How do I insert a picture. When I click insert image (the tree) a window opens up with a blank field. How do I paste a .jpg into that field then click "insert"? Want your opinion of the orange wire B, trace on the PCB broken or not?

You need to upload it to a image hosting site, try this one > http://tinypic.com/
After you upload it copy the link and paste it into that window you open with the tree lol

[/IMG]Ok, this is the area I'm suspicious of, but since my last post, I have verified that the trace is ok (continuity), and since I have unfortunately accidentally pulled the little resistor off the board near the orange wire connection (R4B24) during my attempt to attach it better. hmmmphhhh.

Can I attach the orange wire to the arrow area?

Yes, but the console wont boot without the resistor.
