2 People say no, and 1 says you only need 512MB. This isn't really helpful....

No, it will be simply unplayable. It'll take minutes to process you walking in a straight line.

It will run...terribly. So yes it can be played, but it is not "playable". If you are on a pc purchase a 2GB or a 4GB ram stick.

Typical pc using windows 7 and 3GB of ram requirements:
Windows operating system 1Gb
Other software inc antivirus + firewall 200-400mb (not inc other programs running in the background)
Total used 1.4Gb of ram, so you are left with 1.6gb of ram to do as you please.
This doesnt include the use of a graphics card ram as that is pureley dependant on the card itself, hence why you are getting stats from other players as low as 700mb of ram usage. Graphics card ram can exceed 1GB, and then you have the option of combing two graphics cards to provide double the gpu precessing ability(SLi, Xfire) one card displays the bottom half of the screen, whilst the other half displays the top.

In a nutshell, there are so many variables to consider, the only way is to try out a demo and see how you get on. Upgrade the parts that you need to.

12 fps is unbearable. maybe to some people who don't have decent pc's it's manageable but to people who do have it just simply is'nt.
