we can save games to the HDD right? what happens when you put the disk in there to play them?

Can anyone explain in detail what goes on between the xbox and the game disk when you put your game disk in the tray to play a game saved on the HDD?

like the security check(s) for instance. does it match up a key on the HDD with a key on the disk?

All it simply does is make sure that you have the actual game disc. It does not have to be the disc used to install the game. It just has to be the game.

    Well lets see.

    You put the game in.
    DVD Drive starts to read.
    360 Identifies the game.
Now its ok to boot from harddrive.

    Was that hard?

Actually im not misunderstanding your question. I knew what you meant but you left yourself open for a smartass answer. If im right it will read the default.xex to identify the game. After that the light turns green.
