Yes, only if you put Xex menu on it, and you don't already have another HDD in there. Honestly, I just bought a 1TB External USB HDD for $60 which would be cheaper and more convenient (plug USB into pc whenever you need to add files to games or other stuff). But to answer your question, yes you can use your retails xbox hdd but if it gets banned it'll be risky to put it back in your retail. Also, having modified contents on you hdd and then putting it on a retail will raise some flags.

Yeah because the modified content won't even show up on the Retail Console.
Any cracked DLC will say Corrupt Content, he can't load Xex Menu, and Dash Launch plugins won't load because it's through the hacked nand image. Since it's a retail, it doesn't have a way to load any of that.
