I'm sending my drive away to be flashed soon, but I'm curious as to what I've heard. I've been told always get region free games, but would I be able to get PAL games since I'm from the UK? Or would it still have to be region free?

You can play either region free or PAL games, there are no gains from choosing one or the other unless you plan on purchasing a console from the other two regions.
