Ive decided to bring back that sweet ol nostalgia and build a dedicated retro gaming set up, being a retro gaming enthusiast myself and now an avid collector. I know there is a thread for 'Showing your set-up' but this is a Work-In-Progress that i wanted to share with everyone as i go along. Postin my checklist in here and update my progress on it, as well as see if anyone else has one, maybe share your collectibles/ideas on what would make it even sweeter. I plan on adding NES, SNES, Sega, Colored N64, and PS1 as well as all my favorite games in their original boxes. Then i might go back a little bit farther and pick up the good ol Atari, Intellivision, and maybe the VR. Im not rich by any means, but i do have about 200-300 dollars to spare a month, and that will go towards this collection/set-up.

To start off, i looked on CriagsList for the best CRT and found a 27' Sony Wega for only $15- this is basically the best tv you can use for old school games. The best non-HD tv, if you will. Also bought an entertainment center for $40. The Ent. center is simple but temporary- i most likely will pass it off to my daughter when she turns 2 and has her own room then use a different one with more shelves, leds, etc when i run out of room. Ive been doing alot of ebaying and buying back all the stuff ive regrettably traded up on every gen. I just bought a solid NES Bundle for $75- not a bad deal that includes the original box. Im pretty anal when it comes to having everything boxed. The boxes will go on top of the Ent center. Also got all the Mario bros games, boxed as well except for the classic arcade series (which will have a custom designed case). The games were a bit pricey but a must-have for an enthusiast collector. Pics from the auction where i bought it off-

I originally thought about having 10-15 of my fav NES games all in boxed, but that would be rather financially tedious so i am opting towards just having the cartridges and putting them in a Nintendo docking bay. Im not sure yet but would love to hear inputs or whatever you think would display it the best.

That is the progress so far. I am currently looking on Ebay for a boxed SNES set, and a few classics. Hopefully i get a good deal. Thanks for reading and if you have any thoughts, feel free to share.

Anyway, i cant get too sidetracked with building up my collection now that Christmas is coming, but i might nab a collectible here and there. Might have to put games/consoles on hold, but i saw this on google, pretty nifty and inexpensive deco that would go perfectly with a retro set-up...

Framed Retro Gamer magazines. Those are HARD to find, particularly the good issues/covers. Ive bought 4 of them and am looking for 4 more. Theyre based in the UK, not here. But i think i can make it look good, if not better than the picture i showed above. If anyone from the UK has those mags laying around. PM me and we'll chat. Well, that be all for now.

Wow I really like those framed magazines, very cool. I've done something similar with Nintendo Power.

Small bump. Finally got all the Retro Gamer issues ive been scavenging on ebay for. Only the Mario issue has a price sticker on it but im okay with that. I know it may look like im copying the other dude's idea, but ive replaced some of the issues with my own personal preferences.

The Final Fantasy issue, i got for free in a bundle. But as for the others, i have it laid out how i will frame it on the wall in the retro game room. Probably will not resume building up my collection until after Christmas. But i promise you guys, its gonna be sick. Up there with the top 10 best retro set-up of all times.

Wow, love those retro gamer magazines, I would love to be able to find the Mario and Zelda copies! I admit I had a nerdgasm seeing those!

I still have my original NES and SNES with loads of games.

****. You make me regret selling my N64 last week. I'm building a custom ent center out of 1ftx1ft wooden boxes, I'll have to show you what I get done over the weekend.

Lol thanks. Ive had to put it all on hold because of my newborn son. I now have 2 kids that will require my undivided attention so it might be a tad bit while before i can start building up the collection again. I am moving out this week into a 3bed apt and will have a gaming lounge all to myself (well worth the extra $100 a month). Will put all my stuff plus my PC gaming set up and a futon all in the same room upstairs. Will take pictures next weekend if i can. Hope to see yours too!

I sold my old games on eBay. I just didn't have the room anymore. Media Centre for me with emulators but you don't get the same feel as a rectangle controller.
