So I have a Toshiba 3500 Protege laptop that I bought years ago, but it one day decided to give me the blue screen . Bad win32.dll file so i needed the disk to repair it. The question I have is can I use a windows xp cd to repair the win32.dll on my laptop running windows xp tablet edition. I don't want to break out all the stuff and not be able to do it.

Oh and one other thing. The laptop does not have a dvd drive so can I use an external drive.

not sure about the cd method but if you do use an external you should be able to boot off of it just remember to hit f2 or what ever it is to choose the boot order or boot device

using a usb will work fine, but you will have to make it bootable first?
i think HP has a tool that can do this, but you'll have to google it first?

Using a external drive compared to an internal drive shouldn't make a difference.
